Hi friends! I hope you have been enjoying summer. It feels like such a fleeting season for us here in New England, so I wanted to share a flew glimpse’s of our living room with you, as a way to soak up this last month of summer that we have, before fall comes and the kids head back to school! First though, thank you SO much for all your kind words regarding our Farmhouse Laundry Room Makeover. Like most of you, our laundry room isn’t really a room, but more a wall, lol. This little transformation has made this area in our home much more productive, and I think we can all agree, when it comes to doing chores, when they are more enjoying to do, they get done! In case you missed it, you can see the entire makeover HERE. I still have more to share about the rest of this room, but we have been soaking up summer with trips to the beach, time spent with friends, and just being there for my kids. As much as I love to share things here on the blog, I also recognize that time spent with my kids during these summer days won’t always be there. So this mama is soaking it in while she can 🙂 Now for a look into our summer living room.

I shared on Instagram earlier this week that I feel like some homes shine best in certain seasons. As much as I love to decorate for Christmas, to me our house shines best in the summer. We have plenty of windows so the sunlight just pours in on sunny summer days, along with it’s warm breeze. Making any spot enticing to plop down and relax.
I added some lighter blue throw pillows to our living room back in May, and I have to say they have certainly become a summer staple in our house. In fact I’m going to have a really hard time putting them away come fall. However I guess that can be a good thing, because I will look forward to bringing them back out next year to wash the winter blues away!
I’ve said it before, but being able to walk out into our yard and clip fresh branches is one of my most favorite things to do in summer. Being able to have fresh greens in our house whenever I want makes me so happy!
Having our front door open is another favorite of mine to do during the summer. It’s the first thing I do when I come down those stairs every morning. It floods our front staircase and living room with natural light, and I love sitting in our living room soaking up the first sunlight of the day with a warm cup of coffee.
When we are home during the summer, most of our time is spent in our living room relaxing, just lounging around. I like our space to reflect those exact feelings of just wanting to slow down life a bit, and enjoy the warm days we have together.
Keeping things light and airy helps reflect the summer season we are in, before it’s time to bust out all of our knitted throw blankets and fuzzy fur throws that keep us warm during the cooler months ahead.
We are gearing up to head to the beach next week for a little getaway, and then have family from out of town coming in, along with a fun week of VBS for the kiddos, and one last week of vacation at the end of August right before they head back to school. It’s fun to have things to look forward too, and I feel so blessed we’ve been able to enjoy our summer this year the way we have. How about you? Any fun plans left this summer before fall arrives? I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to!
