Hi Friends! I’m so excited to share some glimpse’s into our living room with you today, part of the Seasons of Home | Holiday Decorating Series. In case you missed it over the weekend, we put our NEW Christmas tree up, and it is just stunning. There is one other staple in my Christmas decor that has to be up in order for it really feel like Christmas in our living room. Can you guess what it is?
Other than our Christmas tree, another staple in our Christmas living room has to be putting up the garland on our banister. It just doesn’t quite feel like Christmas is here, unless those two things are in place.
I love adding extra spots for seating around the house for the holidays, especially in our living room. So I placed this beautiful bench from HomeGoods at the bottom of our staircase. This makes it super easy to sit 3 more people when we are all gathering in the living room.
This year I went for a different garland option, a faux garland option! Or as I like to call it, less mess. To make it look more realistic though I just tucked a few branches of fresh eucalyptus, and no one would ever know. Except now I don’t have to vacuum pine needles every day.
I just love the texture of this bench. My favorite detail about it is the legs though. It has that worn of time heirloom look, and makes it feel more like a heritage piece, instead of something brand new I just bought, which fits so perfectly in our 200 yr. old farmhouse.
To make the seating area cozy and inviting, I layered a small faux fur on it, along with some cozy textured throw pillows. This snowflake pillow adds christmas cheer, but you want to know my little secret? Because it’s a neutral color, the snowflake pattern allows it to stay out all winter long!
Another festive touch I added to our garland, was a strand of wooden beads. The moment I saw them in Joanna Gaines Target line, I knew I had to have them!
I also grabbed these cable knit stockings from HomeGoods this year. They are super thick and plush, and I just love that they have that “homemade” feel, except I didn’t have to do any of the work, lol!
I finished things off with a few faux trees. You may remember my christmas table from last year? To say I have an obsession with these assorted glass trees may be an understatement.
Of course I love to add a new throw pillow here and there in our living room around christmas time. However instead of going for traditional christmas pillows, this neutral loving girl shops for texture 🙂
A faux cow hide, and soft plush velvet are just the kind of “winter” textures I look for when making our living room cozy for Christmas.
I also have a bad habit of not being able to leave HomeGoods without a new basket, or TWO! I love baskets, they are just so practical, and make it easy especially at Christmas time to corral some of those extra decor things I bring out, and keep everything neat and tidy. I’m also planning on using them to put presents in to keep our curious puppy from shredding all the wrapping paper 🙂
I grouped more glass trees on our weathered side table, and placed a strand of fairy lights that add a soft glow at night.
Did you know HomeGoods carries these fairy lights? I also grab a strand or two around this time of year, because these little battery operated strands add the perfect christmas touch to just about anywhere they land.
And just in case you missed it, a couple glimpse’s of our tree.
I shared how I switched things up and put it in a new spot this year. I will be sharing a few more pictures next week of how you can see it looking into the dining room, and from the kitchen!
Now for some more Christmas inspiration. But I would probably go refresh whatever yummy beverage you are drinking, because these girls sure do not disappoint!

I love your gorgeous home. The warm Christmas feel and clean look, I love it. One question, how do you keep your white sofa/chair so clean? My husband and teen son are slobs, I love the white, but could NEVER keep it clean. This is just one battle that would kill me, and (although I love and want a room exactly like yours) this battle I have to let go.
You do fabulous decoration of your home. Thanks for sharing it
