Now that all the christmas decor is put away, I always feel like the house feels like a clean slate. The new year poses a perfect time to redecorate or freshen up any room in your house, a chance to look at things differently, or finally create your favorite space. I'm so excited today to be sharing our most recent family pictures. We had them done at the end of October, in the most perfect setting, with the most perfect light, and of course the most perfect kids. It's ok they are about the only thing I can be biased on and no one can tell me otherwise :) HA HA! Our photographer is AMAZING! I've shared before a few images she's captured, and this time is no different. She out did herself, and we are just in love with the outcome. I haven't ever done a Top 5 post on the blog before, so I figured it was time to give a try! It's always refreshing to look back from where you've come, and provides great motivation to keep moving forward, especially with the New Year right around the corner. I don't know about you, but I can't believe we are down to the last week before Christmas, already! I've started my christmas shopping, but am no where near finished. UGH! I have had so much fun this year soaking in all this holiday season has to offer. Christmas Mantle Sneak Peak

Things have been in a decorating frenzy over here. I've been busy decking the halls, which you can totally get some sneak peaks on Instagram. This year we are totally neutral. Pinecones, greenery, and mercury glass. It's by far my favorite theme, which is making me think I can get rid of everything else, and just stick to this for years. 2013 Advent Calendar

So this year I finally got around to making an Advent calendar. I had big hopes in the past, but there just weren't enough hours in the day. I always love being able to start new traditions with the kids, and this one has been a huge success.I have been waiting since last week for a nice sunny day to get some decent pictures, and today the sun finally broke through the clouds. I had our Advent calendar first set up in our dining room, which was a great display spot, and the kids could see it, but I really wanted them to take part in it. Getting Ready for the Holidays!

I am so excited for this week! Yes, I love Thanksgiving, and am thrilled for Thursday. This is also the week however that we traditionally get our Christmas Tree and decorate for christmas. I love to decorate for christmas, and every year the kids get more involved, makes it that much more special. I tend to never decorate the same way twice, but I figured I would share some highlights from last year just to get the christmas spirit stirred. I'm so glad you guys enjoyed our updated kitchen tour. It feels so much brighter, and full of personality. Today I'm going to show you how I painted our pendant lights to resemble weathered, antiqued pendant barn lights. I loved those rustic, perfectly weathered barn lights, but right now they just didn't fit in our budget. However I didn't want to sacrifice on look. On a routine quick trip to Lowes, the hubby spotted these, and thought they were close enough to what I was hoping for, and he was right!He found these at Lowe's for $50 each. If you've been around here for awhile you already have an idea of how much I like tablescapes. I mean don't get me wrong vignettes are my favorite, but isn't that what a tablescape is? A glorified vignette! I'm here today to share with you a mock tablescape I came up with for Thanksgiving this year. It's mock, because we don't have Thanksgiving at our house, so the pressure of entertaining is off, but I still love any chance to set the table. Today I am sharing with you all the updates our kitchen has gone under since I shared this post with you. I can't believe the transformation this kitchen has taken looking back at before pics.
