Christmas Mantle Sneak Peak

Things have been in a decorating frenzy over here. I've been busy decking the halls, which you can totally get some sneak peaks on Instagram. This year we are totally neutral. Pinecones, greenery, and mercury glass. It's by far my favorite theme, which is making me think I can get rid of everything else, and just stick to this for years. I spent last week at a few other spaces decking their halls for christmas, and a few holiday parties. We are starting off December with a bang! So this year I finally got around to making an Advent calendar. I had big hopes in the past, but there just weren't enough hours in the day. I always love being able to start new traditions with the kids, and this one has been a huge success.I have been waiting since last week for a nice sunny day to get some decent pictures, and today the sun finally broke through the clouds. I had our Advent calendar first set up in our dining room, which was a great display spot, and the kids could see it, but I really wanted them to take part in it. Getting Ready for the Holidays!

I am so excited for this week! Yes, I love Thanksgiving, and am thrilled for Thursday. This is also the week however that we traditionally get our Christmas Tree and decorate for christmas. I love to decorate for christmas, and every year the kids get more involved, makes it that much more special. I tend to never decorate the same way twice, but I figured I would share some highlights from last year just to get the christmas spirit stirred. I'm so glad you guys enjoyed our updated kitchen tour. It feels so much brighter, and full of personality. Today I'm going to show you how I painted our pendant lights to resemble weathered, antiqued pendant barn lights. I loved those rustic, perfectly weathered barn lights, but right now they just didn't fit in our budget. However I didn't want to sacrifice on look. On a routine quick trip to Lowes, the hubby spotted these, and thought they were close enough to what I was hoping for, and he was right!He found these at Lowe's for $50 each. A Thankful Themed Thanksgiving Tablescape {2013}

If you've been around here for awhile you already have an idea of how much I like tablescapes. I mean don't get me wrong vignettes are my favorite, but isn't that what a tablescape is? A glorified vignette! I'm here today to share with you a mock tablescape I came up with for Thanksgiving this year. It's mock, because we don't have Thanksgiving at our house, so the pressure of entertaining is off, but I still love any chance to set the table. I realized that while I shared our fall mantle this year on Instagram, I haven't actually shared over here on the blog. So I have just a few pictures to show you what I did with our mantle for fall. I looked and looked for a recent photo of what it looked like before, but unfortunately could only find this one, and the quality is less than ideal, but at least you get the idea.I know it's hard to see in this photo, but I had some little birds, a bird house, and springtime greenery up for spring. Our Dining Room {Fall 2013}

This year I really wanted to warm things up a bit for fall. Most of my year round decor is white, which is why I like to add some warm colors in the colder months. I mixed real pumpkins, faux pumpkins, and freshly clipped branches from our yard. Simple, uncomplicated style, which reflects how I feel this fall, and the need to quiet life, and enjoy slower days. I think our summers are so busy, because we only get to enjoy nice weather for a few short months, but every fall I'm ready to slow down, wrap myself in a blanket, and just sit with a hot cup of coffee.
