I love creating a welcoming Thanksgiving table that inspires people to want to come and gather around it. To linger long after the last bite has been taken and dessert has been served. Tablescapes don’t have to be tricky or complicated. This year’s Thanksgiving table is all about creating cozy layers with a warm welcome.
Fall Back Porch
Our back porch has been undergoing major changes over the last few months. Earlier this summer, we started the demo, removing worn-out screens and the dated green tile. We aren’t quite finished with it yet, but the transformation has been so fun, seeing new life brought back into this space that we love to use. Our back porch is split into two sections, one part being screened in (which we plan to keep) and a second portion that used to have a pergola over it. Both of which overlooks our backyard. We’ve made some major changes to it, and even though it’s not quite finished, I thought it would be fun to decorate for fall and show you the difference between how it looked last year and now.
How I Style our Hutch for Fall
The hutch in our dining room is one of my favorite spots to decorate seasonally. It’s the first spot I go to decorate for Christmas and an easy way to add seasonal decor that’s reflected throughout the entire room. Our hutch makes the perfect focal point, centered at the end of our table. Today I’m sharing the step-by-step process of how I style our hutch for fall.
Fall Mantel | 2023
Today I’m sharing how I decorated our fireplace mantel for fall! Truth be told, from the moment we finished our fireplace makeover, I have been dying to pull out my garlands from their storage bins, and decorate it for Christmas. But I’m practicing some self control, and am embracing the fall season by choosing to decorate my mantel for fall and not skip straight ahead to Christmas. I took a note from the colors I used in my Thanksgiving table this year to create this natural look using foraged branches with berries, a few faux stems, and of course mini white pumpkins! I love how this look came together, and am so glad I decided not to skip over decorating our mantel for fall this year.
Thanksgiving Tablescape | 2023
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Which would surprise most people who asked me as a young kid and expected to hear me say Christmas. I just loved when we would all come to gather around the table, extended family included. The table leaf would get brought up from the basement, and extra chairs were placed around the table, as we all would squeeze in to fit. I remember as a kid looking at the beautifully place settings, showing each of us we had a seat at the table, and somehow those everyday plates just looked a little fancier with the silverware placed next to it. Everything about the table said “you belong”, “I prepared this seat for you”, and even though I couldn’t put words to it back then, I still remember to this day how it made me feel. I think that’s why I love creating thanksgiving tablescapes so much today!
Neutral Fall Decorating Ideas
Are you ready to decorate for fall? But not quite sure how to keep a cozy, neutral aesthetic with your fall decor? Friend, I’ve got you covered! I’ll be the first to admit, I love fall! Living in New England, we get the best showcase of all the beautiful autumn colors. And while I love the vibrant colors fall is known for, I don’t necessarily love decorating with those colors inside my home. Does that mean I have to skip out on decorating my home for fall? No way! Come and see the softer side of fall.
