It is officially fall! I’ll admit that sometimes welcoming fall into our homes feels a bit premature as the summer temps try to hold on a little bit longer, but before we know it, that crisp autumn air has me turning my attention back indoors, and the itch to make our home feel warm and cozy strikes again. As we prepare to welcome fall into our homes, here are a few things I like to do as we transition into the new season.
Today I’m sharing the progress we’ve made around our fireplace. When we first moved into this house I just knew I wanted to create a cozy seating area in front of our fireplace. I imagined myself sitting there, listening to the crackle of the fire while enjoying a quiet moment with a hot cup of coffee. The space around our fireplace is not large enough to be a room all on its own, but I approached decorating this space with the mind set of how I would want a keeping room to feel. I had a few challenges in making sure the furniture I brought in not only fit the space well, but could hold up to the everyday traffic. And I think you will see I found the perfect chairs to create this cozy fireplace seating area.
Today I am sharing with you a brand new space from our (new to us) home. One that you have not seen before, and didn’t even make the cut in the New Home Tour (shared HERE), or the New Home Tour video (shown HERE). This room is located in the front of our house, just off of the kitchen, and when we first moved in it served as a space to hold moving boxes we were still going through. It was great to be able to shove some boxes off to the side (out of sight) when we first moved in and were unpacking, which is why this room never made the cut. But I’m happy to say we now have this room up and functioning as a home office, and I can’t wait for to see the transformation!
can’t believe that we have been in our new home for six months now! I still get that pinch me feeling when I pull in our driveway, just in awe that this home is really ours. There are so many things that we love about being here, but I can honestly tell you for me it’s not having to wonder anymore about what our forever home will be like. There is a deep sense of being rooted here, and knowing that this not a temporary home for our family, that gives me so much contentment I don’t know if I can fully explain it. I mentioned in my Fall Home Tour that I needed to share more about the progress that has taken place in our dining room, so today I’m showing you just what we’ve done so far, including that new paint color and layout this room has taken.
ally the day! I have been hinting that I was working on finishing our fall decor for the last few weeks, and I’ll be honest, there were times I wasn’t really sure if it was going to be done or not, lol! I was so excited to decorate our new home for fall, because this is our first fall in this home. But I think a lot of that excitement was coming from a place of wanting to nest. The air is cooler, the sunlight streaming a little more amber and gold, and I wanted to do was make a giant pot of soup, and bring out all my chunky knit throw blankets, anyone else? Speaking of which, have you tried this soup HERE? It’s delicious, I’m making it tonight, but that’s besides the point. I really just wanted our home to feel warm and cozy. I will be honest, I found it a little difficult to photograph this fall home tour, because this was the first time I was officially photographing this house, I’m still getting to know her. And what lighting works right, and what angels make her shine. I almost scratched this whole post because I wasn’t totally fond of the photos I took, but I reminded myself that done is better than perfect. And since the last time I showed you this house was when we moved in, I wanted to share some of the progress we’ve made. Consider this home tour like a “first date” if you will, of me getting to know our new home through my camera lens.
we moved into our new home, we both had day dreamed about what we couldn’t wait to do with the outside landscape of this property. However there were some areas where we couldn’t quite figure out how to tackle, or how to connect with the other design elements we had planned for our yard. Insert Yardzen to the rescue! They came up with an entire exterior landscape design plan, and I can’t wait for you to see!
Hello Friends!! Today I am back sharing the second part of new Home Tour with – the upstairs! While I didn’t photograph every nook and cranny to show you, I feel like this best represents the rooms we use most. Of course if you watch our New Home Tour on my YouTube channel you get a feel for what it’s like to walk around the upstairs layout of our home. I know I’ll share more close ups and details of the upstairs as I begin to make it feel more like our home – including one of the ideas I have to cover one of our hallway walls with family photos. Before we jump in to Part 2, I wanted to show you some of the inspiration photos I’ve been saving for the exterior of our home, and share some exciting news!! You’ve probably heard me say before, how vital I believe it is to have 3-5 inspiration photos when it comes to decorating the inside of your home, but I also believe the same is true when it comes to the outside of our homes as well! Gathering inspiration photos is so helpful in providing clarity to your design likes, as well as helping you see an end result to shoot for. This doesn’t mean that your space is going to come out exactly like the space in your inspiration photo, but it does help guide you, and give you vision when you are in the process of creating a space you love. So today I’m sharing the photos I’ve saved that are my inspiration for the exterior of our home.
