Well, it’s that time of year. Where we frantically try to think of something to buy for all of our beloved ones. It truly is a special moment when we know we’ve nailed it in the gifting department, but sometimes we can feel a bit apprehensive, because we just aren’t sure what to buy. Never mind when the question gets turned on us! It’s like all of a sudden that running list of things we have been eye-balling instantly POOF’s from our memory bank, and we have a deer in headlights look …
Seasons of Life
Can we chat for a minute. Just friend to friend?! Life is hard. There I said it. I know in the world of social media, we are filled to the brim with everyone else’s highlight reel, it can make our own lives feel – well uneventful. Like if we aren’t trying the hippest restaurant in town, or the latest beauty regiment, or have picture perfect children at every moment, who never have outbursts, and always look put together, and don’t shout out in the grocery store “SOMEONE FARTED”….
Look How Far We’ve Come
I had a completely different post planned for today, but when Facebook pops up in your feed with a memory from 5 years ago, I knew I wanted to share that instead. Not because I want to boast on how far I’ve come, but it’s important to look back on where we have come from. To take a moment and soak in the hard work and time we’ve invested to get to where we are today. You’ve heard the expression “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and I think the same is definitely true in blogging. I’ve shared my thoughts about comparison HERE, and nothing can wreck you more in the blogging industry than comparing yourself to someone else’s accomplishments. I think it’s so important that we take a moment, and stop to look back and see just how far we’ve come. Not only does it help give us a sense of accomplishment, but it propels us into moving forward with fresh motivation.
My Top Fall Outfit Picks
I don’t consider myself a fashionista, but I do like putting outfits together that are go along with my style, and definitely have a soft spot for accessories. I think anyone who has met me would agree, I don’t dress for trendy, but I do like to be comfortably in style. So I put together a little mood board of one of my favorite fall outfits. August is usually about the time I start craving cooler weather so I can bust out my vest and scarves and boots!
When Comparison Is all Around
It’s really hard not to compare these days. With social media slamming everyone else success’s in our faces, we can easily fall into the trap of comparison without even realizing it. We go from cheering someone on, to slowly starting a downward spin cycle of feelings that tell us we’re “not good enough” or success will never happen for our own personsal goals. So how do we celebrate with someone, or even scroll through social media, without letting those feelings start to consume us.
We Got Chickens!
Ummm yes, you are reading that correctly! We got chickens. Well technically we’ve had them, but they’ve never made an official appearance on the blog or Instagram for that matter. You may remember in my previous post I mentioned we made an addition to our family, and by addition I mean 5 tiny, fluffy, cuddly chickens. We always talked about having chickens, but I never thought we would actually take the plunge, but after having them for a few months I’m kicking myself for not doing this sooner.
A letter for the tired Mom
I know I don’t share a whole lotta personal stuff here on the blog. Every now and then it seeps out, and I would like for it to start to seep out a little more. Sometimes though, if I’m being honest, I get stuck when sharing more personal posts that don’t have all the pretty photos to follow. I know that isn’t the only reason you guys are here, but I think I have put myself under an unrealistic exception of needing to always provide beautiful room shots. Don’t get me wrong, it’s something I love to do, it’s just not something that I always do. So today I don’t have any pretty room shots for you to look at, instead it’s just me and you friends. Friends chatting over coffee I’d imagine, and a conversation I longed for as a mom of too tiny people not to long ago.
