I think it’s inevitable that with every start to a new year comes time for reflection on last year, and some time to look forward in hopes of what the new year might hold. Since I’ve taken a look back on 2017, and all that we accomplished, and I’ve shared with you my most popular posts of 2017, it’s time to dream about what 2018 will bring. I’ve been looking around our house, and really contemplating what I hope to tackle this year. So here are some of my goals for 2018, and what I hope to accomplish in our home.
22 Storage Baskets {Under $50}
Hello Friends! I finally feel like I can take a deep breath after all of the holiday commotion. Now that I’m putting the house back in order, and cleaning to the extent of what feels like spring cleaning around here, I rounded up one of my favorite home decor / storage friends that makes my life (and yours) a whole lot easier. Baskets! I think I have a few baskets in just about every room of our house, some purposeful, and some just empty so they are ready to corral any loose laying items around. So in case you’re in the mood to clean and get your house in order, I’ve rounded up 22 of my Favorite Storage Baskets all under $50!

Happy New Year
Happy New Year friends!!! I hope you are resting in reflecting with full hearts after all of the holiday celebrations, and everything that came with 2017. This past week has been FULL of spending time with family, even last night, we rang in the New Years here at home with our kids, and my sister, her husband and darling 3 yr. old niece. I have to say it truly is a highlight to see the joy on my kids faces as we celebrate the holidays, the many blessings God has poured out in our lives, and now the anticipation of what the New Year will bring.
A Year in Review {2017}
It’s always fun to look back over the past year. As the new year approaches, and we wind down from the holidays. The last Christmas cookie is digested, and my pants seem to have gotten 2 sizes smaller in ONE week, I look forward to the New Year with great anticipation. With the kids home on from school on Christmas break, and family visiting, we have spent our days soaking in our time together, and it truly has been so much fun. However, I told my husband the other day, that this structure loving person is craving some routine. I never realized how much I crave routine, until it’s gone! With 2018 right around the corner, I always love to look back over the past year. There is something about reviewing the last year, that helps propel us into what’s next. So this is my year in review of 2017.
Styling a Christmas Vignette
One of the things I always do is style our buffet in our dining room to coordinate with the rest of my christmas decor. I get text messages from friends around the holidays with pictures of their buffets, or side tables, or books shelves asking for my design eye to take a look and make sure nothing is missing. I love helping others love the spaces they are in, so I love helping my friends make their homes festive for the holidays too! Vignettes have to be one of my favorite things to do, other than tablescapes of course! So today I’m sharing some photos with you on how I style a christmas vignette.
Christmas in the Dining Room {Part 2.}
Hello Friends! Sometimes I get asked the question, especially after I share an elaborate tablescape post, if my dining room always looks that way? The answer is always NO, because let’s face it, sometimes my dining room table gets lost under the piles of stuff that life can accumulate, to the point where my husband will ask if we still own a dining room table?! Ha Ha! For the most part our dining room looks like it did in the Holiday Housewalk this year. Well when I clean it for company ….
Frosted Winter Tablescape
Hello Friends!! I hope you are good as we countdown to Christmas!! We got our first snowfall over the weekend, with another one happening right now as we speak, so it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. Today I wanted to share with you the tablescape I created last year for the Better Homes & Gardens Christmas Ideas magazine (still out on newsstands now!). I’m titling this one the “Frosted Winter Tablescape”, because it’s full of “frosted” winter greens like dusty miller, and even some soft succulents, along with plenty of winter greens!
Miss Mustard Seed White Wax
You may remember when I shared our new dining room updates I mentioned our new table arriving “unfinished” in the sense that it was raw wood. So no poly or any protective layer to keep from damaging water rings, or other stains. I knew I wanted to use something that wouldn’t greatly alter the look of the wood, but I also didn’t want it to make the wood feel any warmer, which some products will do. I will put this disclaimer out first I’m a wax over poly person. Just am. That’s my preference, and I can’t say 100% why, I just like it better. When I apply a wax finish to wood it seems to make the richness in the wood come out, not to mention it also makes it buttery smooth – like silk, something poly just doesn’t do for me
