Now I get to share all the fun with you on here, and give you all the details.
The legs for the table came from an old table my sister gave me. It was a cute table, but not quite the right style or fit for what we wanted, but I loved the legs. So we took the legs off and then built a frame with them out of 1X4 pine boards. I painted the whole base with Annie Sloan chalk paint in Graphite. Its a mix between a navy blue and charcoal grey. It’s even more perfect in person!
For the planks on the top, we used five pine 2×8’s, and cut them to the length we wanted. I can add a chair between the two parson chairs (IKEA) and that will give us seating for 8! I knew I wanted the boards to resemble older wood, without using old uneven boards. To accomplish this look I first stained all the boards with Rustoleum “Kona”, which is in the same field as a dark walnut or jacobean.
I grabbed some small white pitchers, white candles, the center vase with faux hydrangeas was from a bookcase in our hallway upstairs. Since I currently only have once woven charger, I placed that in the middle underneath the vase, and finished things off with a small piece of driftwood.
I love the new feel of the room, and it just seems to go so much more with the age and style of our house, and most importantly our style. There are still a few small changes left to be made to the room, mostly a new lighting fixture, and you’ll notice in this last photo that the striped rug is gone. It’s currently in our living room (which I talked about here), but now that this new table is a bit longer, the rug is too small. So down the road I will be on the hunt for one of those. Right now though, I’m still in bliss with the new table, and the kids love to hop up on the bench and do things at the table as well.
