Holiday Housewalk 2016

11/29/2016 By Bre

29 Nov

Hi friends!! I’m so excited to be joining in again this year with Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday Housewalk sponsored by Wayfair! Jenn kicked off the tour yesterday with Day 1, and 6 beautiful homes decorated for the holidays. To start at the beginning of the tour, you can visit Jen’s blog HERE, as she kicks things off, and today we continue with Day 2.

If you are stopping by from At the Picket Fence, then welcome!! I’m so glad you are here. Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent BlogThis year I decided to change up my Christmas decor a little. In years past my decor was always on the rustic side, but becoming more neutral along the way. I shared my christmas decor inspiration for this year HERE, where I shared how I loved last years decor, but at the end of it all it felt a little lacking to me. So I decided to add a little color back into the mix, and knowing my love for blue, that seemed to be the obvious choice. However I wanted things to feel a little more elegant and a little more traditional this year. Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I shared our Christmas tree last week, HERE, but really shared how I focused on adding some warmth with champagne and gold toned ornaments, and of course the blue ribbon!

Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

New to the tree this year, are these beautiful white frosted bulbs from Wayfair. They looked like snow covered mercury glass ornaments to me, and of course I love all things white!

Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I also added a mix of glass pinecones in different finishes, similar to THESE, along with a mix of different gold hued ornaments (borrowed from my mom). Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Last year I got one new throw pillow – ONE, LOL! I always say the biggest way to swap out decor for the seasons is by bringing in new throw pillows. So when I saw this slate blue velvet pillows at HomeGoods earlier this fall, I got a little carried away.

Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I figured since last year had only one, I could balance it out by getting almost all new ones this year, lol! All are new, except the white plaid one is from H&M a few years ago. Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Also new this year is the white fur rug, yes rug, draped on our coffee table. It adds the perfect wintry touch to our living room. I filled a gold tray with a  few coffee table books, and some of the christmas trees from my christmas tree tablescape for a little added shine. I love the mix of textures going on in this sweet little vignette. Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

So I have a new favorite Christmas song, and I want to share it with all of you today! I’ll include the link below in case you want to listen to it, but it is the simplest of songs melody wise, with lyrics full of meaning.

Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

So as you continue with our tour I want to share the lyrics for you to read, because this truly sums up how I feel about our home during the holidays.

Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

“I don’t care if the house is packed , Or the strings of light are broken

I don’t care if the gifts are wrapped, Or there’s nothing here to open
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
Love is not a toy, and no paper will conceal it
Love is simply joy that I’m home
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
I don’t care if the carpet’s stained we’ve got food upon our table
I don’t care if it’s gonna rain, our little room is warm and stable
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
Love is who we are, and no season can contain it
Love would never fall for that
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
We sing oo
Oo
Oo
Let love lead us, love is Christmas
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
Why so scared that you’ll mess it up? When perfection keeps you haunted
All we need is your best my love, that’s all anyone ever wanted
Love is how we do, let no judgment overrule it
Love I look to you, and I sing
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Let love lead us, love is Christmas
Let love lead us, love is Christmas”   by: Sara Bareilles
There is so much truth in those lyrics. It brings me back to the heart of Christmas, and what truly matters. More than the pretty spaces, I want my family to feel loved at Christmas.
Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
Past the pretty pictures, is a home filled with love, providing a place of rest, and joy this holiday season. Taking time to make memories, and not get carried away with the rush of the holiday season, and soaking in all the moments we are given. Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
Stockings are a big deal around here! A tradition I remember as a kid from my grandmothers house. Stockings were almost a bigger event than the actual presents. I don’t know why, but I remember every christmas it was the time during the day when every family member would be together opening up tiny packages and little trinkets that overflowed out of their stockings.Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
It’s a tradition that we have carried on with our own children, and these beautiful linen stockings from Wayfair were just what I was looking for!

Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I share with you soon how I embellished them a little, and put my own personal touch on them, but I loved the idea of each stocking having everyones initials on them. THESE wood letter ornaments from Anthropologie add the perfect finishing touch. I purchased one for each of us.

Thank you so much for joining me today as we welcome Christmas into our home. Up next on the tour is Dear Lillie!!Holiday Housewalk 2016 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog I swoon every time over her beautiful details, and impeccable taste in decor, especially at Christmas time! You will not want to miss it, I can promise you that! Have a lovely day friends!

Beautifully decorated tree, the flocking gives the effect of a freshly fallen snow. The garland on the stair way is simply Devine. Xo Sarah
