I have been so enjoying seeing everyones lovely home for fall lately! I shared some more of our home decorated for fall earlier this week with friends from the bHome app. And today I’m back with more friends from the Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series for our final fall post. Today we are sharing how we decorated our porches for Fall, sponsored by the fabulous people at Joss & Main. [Read more…]
The dust has settled. You know that gets kicked up with kids going back to school and summer ending. Well maybe it’s just the last bit of beach sand being shaken out from our car, but life finally feels like it is in somewhat of a routine, and the air is crisp with fall. I’m teaming up with my friends at bHome to share a little bit more of fall around our home. [Read more…]
We are back for another week of Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series. This week we are all sharing our Fall Tabescape sponsored by All Modern. In case you’ve missed the previous weeks, you can catch week 1 – HERE, and week 2 – HERE. If you are new here, let me just tell you creating tablescapes are my favorite. I think if I could pick one thing to do for the rest of my life it would be creating tablescapes. I’m not gonna lie, every time I browse holiday catalogues, I gush over their elaborate tablescapes. Happy Tuesday Friends!! I’m so excited to be back for another round of Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series. Today we are sharing our Living Rooms decorated for fall. If you have been visiting my blog since the beginning of the year than you may remember me sharing how I wanted to “Simplify our Spaces“. This year has been about simplifying. Not adding more, but really emphasizing on special details. It’s easy to feel the need to add a ton to your decor when decorating for new seasons, however I chose to make subtle transitions to gradually add fall into our living room. [Read more…]
I finally pulled the trigger on getting a rug for our dining room. I’ve been contemplating different options for a couple years now. Yes YEARS, you read that right. If I’ve learned anything in design, it’s not to rush the process. Don’t make haste decisions that you aren’t 100% confident in. Not only can you potentially waste money, you waste time and energy on a piece that wasn’t meant to be, and it end up stunting your decision to make the right choice because you live with “good enough” for far too long. I actually had a completely different rug picked out for this room, so let me tell you why I ended up pulling the trigger on not only a different color than my original choice, but also a much bolder pattern!
If you caught my tutorial for installing wallpaper on our kitchen ceiling, than you know adding bead board is something I have wanted to do for quite a while. So when Graham & Brown reached out about using some of their products, I was thrilled to finally give this project a try. You can catch all the details in the “tutorial” post as to why I decided to go with wallpaper vs. real or faux bead board. While I don’t think installing wallpaper to a ceiling is for the faint at heart. Once I figured out the right formula of soaking the wall paper, allowing the paste to activate, and cutting the right lengths, it went up pretty quickly! Are you ready to see the results?! I have been wanting to add bead board to the ceiling in our kitchen since, OH about FOREVER! There are plenty of options out there for installing bead board, and for the most part non are super pricey. They more differ in difficulty and the tools needed to install. I’ve always loved the look, and even though the hubby was on board, his plate has been so full I couldn’t see him having time any time in the near future to tackle this project. One of the options I always kept in mind was using bead board wallpaper, and so that was exactly the route I decided to go. The ceiling in our kitchen was smooth, so using wallpaper was a perfect solution. [Read more…]
I know in some areas kids are headed back to school. We still have another 3 weeks to go before school starts for us, however I did just drop off kindergarten registration forms today for my baby! Our kindergarten is a full day program, and they go to school just like the rest of elementary kids, so we are pretty excited around here for both kiddos to be in school. Honestly I think they are more excited than I am, which makes me love the school they go to even more. So even though we aren’t headed back to school, I wanted to share a sneak peak of the look and feel we are going for this fall. I’m so excited about this, because one of my favorite shops Vol. 25, just launched their fall collection “Haven”, and it is full of beautiful prints to help you welcome fall in your home too! With summer in full swing, I wanted to pop in and share my go-to essentials for summer backyard entertaining! You may remember this past spring when we recently completed our patio makeover, and since then we have been enjoying this space nonstop. I love entertaining to begin with, and getting together with friends and family in the summer is the perfect excuse to get outside and relax. So here are some of my summer essentials for easy backyard entertaining. [Read more…]
I love finding new homes oozing with farmhouse style. I think it’s no secret around here that I love anything with a farmhouse flair, and I’m sure you probably feel the same way, which is why you are here or why you stick around my little corner of the web. When I started this blog “farmhouse style” was yet to be considered a term, but I think it has poured a strong foundation over the last year or so in the world of interior design. To continue to share my love for farmhouse style homes, I wanted to create a home tour series where I share with you a “new-to-me” home that oozes with charm and character, and quite frankly I just can’t get enough of! Happy Summer Friends! I’m so excited to be teaming up with almost 30 bloggers this week to share our summer spaces with you, along with Birch Lane and Country Living Magazine. Living in the northeast, with bitter winters, it’s no surprise that summer has us begging to stay outside as long as we can. [Read more…]
So I had been toying with updating our kitchen island for a while. I feel like I have been debating for over a year, and finally decided to pull the trigger. Because what’s the worse that can happen, I don’t like it and I can paint it back white, RIGHT?! So I finally decided to take the plunge and update our kitchen island, by painting it a bold color, and it was so easy. [Read more…]
It sure feels like summer is in full swing now. With only 2 more weeks left of school, and temperatures staying consistently warm, the memories of winter are fading fast. I’m so excited to be teaming up with some of my friends today for another edition of 10 Minute Decorating. You can see the entire tour at the bottom of the post, but first our front porch decorated for summer! While I tend to keep the decor on our front porch at a minimal throughout the year, primarily because it’s narrow, summer is the one time where I will elaborate a little bit in the space. Welcome friends to our Celebrate Summer Home Tour, hosted by the talented Julie Blanner. Yesterday was Day 1, and you can catch the beginning HERE, and if you are coming over from Liz at Love Grows Wild, then welcome! I’m so glad you here! It’s funny for me to look back through past home tours, because no 2 are the same. Even though I love my neutrals and I have the same color palette for most of them, there is a different flair on each one. Even the transition from Spring to Summer, I like my home’s decor to reflect the season changing outside. If you are new here than let me give you the 30-second welcome! We live in New England, in an 1846 farmhouse that we share with our 2 kids, ages 5 and 7, and our latest addition 6 chickens! My favorite color is white, just ask my kids, and while Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate for, I think summer suits our house best. Everything just feels right, if that doesn’t sound to cooky at all. Oh and when I’m not on here, you can find me on Instagram (@roomsforrent)!! I have a little more on that later too, but first lets get on with the tour.
Thank you so much for all the sweet comments on our daughters Vintage Girls Room Reveal on Friday! It still feels so good to finally have her room finished. I never got to decorate a nursery for her, so in part, setting up her room now took place of that. I know I shared some sources that went into decorating her room in Friday’s post, but I there was so much that went into her space, I want to share more of the sources and details that went into decorating our girls bedroom makeover.
