Discovering Your Style with A Statement Chair

Now that all the christmas decor is put away, I always feel like the house feels like a clean slate. The new year poses a perfect time to redecorate or freshen up any room in your house, a chance to look at things differently, or finally create your favorite space. One of my main goals is “To help others Love the space they Live in.” I don’t care if you own or rent, you can Love any space you Live in. One of the things I hear most often is “I just can’t seem to figure out what style I like” or “I don’t know how to put things together” or even “I don’t even know where to start”. Sometimes a whole room can be intimidating when creating your favorite space, so lets break it down a bit and focus in on one element in the room. A statement chair. One Kings Lane recently launched a resource guide to help with all of your furniture and decorating questions. It’s like an encyclopedia for home decor. Even tips on how to reupholster a chair. Even if you already have a good sense of your style or decorating preferences, it’s a great read and I think you will LOVE it. Today I’m going to show you one of my favorite statement chairs, what I love about it, and what it says about my personal style choices. I think we are all familiar with the accent chairs I have at the end of my dining room, but just in case you aren’t, here ya go:

I love these grey wicker chairs. L.O.V.E. They are so versatile, they go with anything, and anywhere in the house. If we need extra seating in the living room, I drag them in. If we need extra seating on the porch, out they go. If we need extra seating for a BBQ or campfire, they are the perfect addition to the yard. I love them as a pair, or a stand alone. Not to mention they are so comfy. One of things that I was first drawn to was their texture. I crave texture in my life, and am a huge fan of natural texture. Baskets, blinds, ottomans, chairs you name it, to me it’s the perfect statement.

The soft, chunky woven texture of the wicker makes these chairs the perfect accent in any environment I put them in. The subtle grey makes them soft on the eyes and color palette, and the wicker draws you in with its rich texture. My second favorite thing about them is their shape. I love the classic style of the wingback chair, established in the late 17th century.

Loving a chair with a classic style, helped me realize that the majority of the things I really love are classic. From decor, to furniture, to even clothes, 9 times out of 10 I’m picking the classic piece over funky any day. Does this mean that everything I pick will be classic? Nope. But it did help me realize a sense of style that I will always be happy with.

When decorating a space, start with pieces that really speak to you. A statement chair is a great way to discover your style, or accent your taste, by bringing the whole space together. Defining your style takes some time, and discovery to find out what you really love, and determine your true style.
The Resource Guide at One Kings Lane is the perfect place to start, or gather more information on what you truly love. Not to mention all of their beautiful eye candy! A few things to remember when trying to decide on your style:

  • Does it speak to you? Grab your attention.
  • Compile a list or folder of all of you favorite things, what do they have in common? Is there an overall theme?
  • If a whole space feels overwhelming to tackle at once, bring in once piece at a time that you truly love.

I think you might surprise yourself! And remember don’t over think it. If you love it, you will know!

Small Business Phone Service plans with an automated attendant, call routing and conferencing give a tiny corporation the appearance of a large one, increasing customer confidence.
