A Dark Accent Wall

06/13/2014 By Bre

I have an itch! You know that kind that only goes away once scratched. Yeah, that kind. The kind that takes a normal lazy saturday morning into a “Pack up the kids in the car, we are going to the hardware store”, or a “Oh I’m sorry you are waiting for me to cook dinner, I decided to paint this wall instead” kind of an itch. You get those? Sometimes they just need to be scratched, and by scratched I mean a project. There I said it “PROJECT”! I’m not sure if my family is so used to this word it doesn’t phase them, or they run and hide like they are being chased by the boogy-man. I use the term “Project” lightly around here because it usually ends in a conversation with my husband asking when I will ever stop. The answer my dear is “when I’m dead”. I think if you are person with creative ideas floating around in your head, and the term “Do-er” as your definition, than you never really stop, because it’s during those creative times that your soul is fed, and a sense of fullfilment is met. So allow me to introduce you to my current itch brewing thought.

Our master bath is painted a dark graphite color which balances with light the multiple windows and the white /ivory bath pieces. I’m also dying to paint a wall in my office with black chalkboard paint. I had an accent wall painted with it in my son’s old room, with the other walls a pale teal. Couldn’t love it more. DO IT!

Lovely inspiration and I have pinned some of those as well trying to commit to an accent wall, possibly Black Suede by BEHR. Canadian House and Home magazine June 2014 has a gorgeous Quebec lake cottage with Black Suede accent walls with lots of wood and white and I think it is gorgeous. I guess it’s only paint, right?

Go for it! I personally crave dark, cozy spaces but am so afraid of suffocating, so a dark accent wall is perfect!
Also, I was quite obsessed with Nester’s new bedroom… it is perfection. Good day!
