Did you guys enjoy all the lovely Summer Home tours last week?? I sure did! There are so many beautiful home tours circulating around blogsphere right now. I never get tired of them. You may have noticed and you may have not, but we had something new in the house sneak peak in our home tour.A *NEW* dining room chandelier.
The reason I say you might not have noticed, is because unless you were really paying attention, I hardly ever let our previous light fixture make an appearance. It was not even a chandelier, I called it more of a glorified “boob-light”, and yes you read that right, no typo here.
Here you can see our dining room before, and the infamous boob-light is shown.
Now mind you, there are plenty of other trendier chandeliers I had my eyes on, but at the end of the day, simple and classic won (not to mention affordable!).
Our dining room is on the narrow side, and the ceiling height doesn’t give much room for anything too large. If we had hung anything larger you would have hit your head on it walking by the table, anything smaller would look like it belonged in a kids room.
There was a small window of just the right size. For me though, the major win wasn’t solely on looks this time (a lot of times it is), function took the cake. I didn’t like our previous light so much, I wouldn’t even turn it on. It was so bright and awkward for the space. Now the new light has a soft subtle glow, dispersing the light just right throughout the room. Now I am happy to turn it on.
I’m sure some of you who know me well enough are also asking the question, “I wonder how long those lamp shades will stay white”? For now we’re sticking with classic, but they are certainly not off the hook yet from being the next DIY project!
