Simple Moss Wreath

03/24/2015 By Bre

Moss has been my go to this spring for decor. I’ve used it in the past, but this year it seemed to be the one element I carried throughout our house. I’m always drawn to simple greens for wreaths, and was craving something spring-y for our porch door, and this simple moss wreath was the perfect touch for spring.

DIY_moss_wreath

wreath_supplies All you need are a few supplies to make your own, and of course my trusty hot glue gun! I started off with one of these straw wreath forms, and sheet moss. First I cut the moss into sections to fit around the wreath, and then glued them in place.moss_sheets

Next I cut pieces to fit into the remaining exposed areas of the wreath, and secured them with glue.

moss_wreathTo hang it I used some left over white burlap ribbon, for a natural look that doesn’t compete with the moss.

moss_wreath_hangingI usually never leave my christmas wreath up past January, but with all the snow and extreme cold we’ve had, I could have cared less about swapping out decor outside.simple_moss_wreath

I love the privacy screen on the door. We recently moved to a house with 2 side windows by the front door. That would be a perfect solution. Did you make it and if so I would love to know the details!
    Thanks so much

    Hi,

I just found your site and LOVE it. I made a moss wreath last year just like this. However, I am having trouble with it shedding all over everything. I tried spraying it will hair spray, but I’m still having problems. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Kay! Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m wondering what kind of moss you used? I know some are looser than others. My only other suggestion would be to add more hot glue to it? Try and re-enforce it a bit more? Sorry I don’t have any other tips, but I haven’t had any trouble with mine shedding. Good Luck!

Nice wreath. I think a little green up against my window would look just right.
