Spring Home Tour {2015}

03/26/2015 By Bre

26 Mar

I’m so excited to be back today sharing more spring around our house. As I’ve mentioned in previous seasonal posts, I’m not one to necessarily decorate for every holiday or event, but more just change the decor in our home as our seasons change outside. I love living in new england because we truly get to experience all 4 seasons, even if sometimes it just feels like winter, more winter, still winter, and mosquitos!

All joking aside, we do have truly beautiful seasons, even though I think I can speak for all of us new englanders and say “Come on spring!”. Today I’m teaming up with 24 other bloggers who are all sharing their spring homes throughout the week.

Kirkland's Collage ThursdayTo see the entire list check out this post I shared on Monday. Today we have Kindred Vintage, Wicks Nest, Everyday Enchanting, and The Happy Housie and me! When I shared my dining room last week I hadn’t done anything with our chalkboard yet. So one night last week when I had some quiet time, and the mood finally struck I chalked it up.

You can see my entire spring dining room post here, and to catch all the details on how I refreshed our striped wall with reclaimed wood frames and free botanical prints, click here.

I always loved these lyrics, and thought they were perfect for spring, andΒ made me think of all the pretty flowers about to pop up!

When it comes to decorating for spring in the rest of our house, I like to start with a clean slate. Everything from winter gets packed away so spring feels refreshed and clean. I layered neutral throw pillows on the furniture to keep our living room feeling light and airy. The two larger gray throw pillows are the newest addition from Kirklands, the two grain sack looking ones I DIY’d, and the middle blue and white striped on is an old Ikea purchase.

Even though our coffee table made it’s first appearance in my fall home tour, I never really got to introduce her! The hubby and I made it back at the end of summer. We used different pieces of barn wood for the top planks, and repurposed legs painted with chalk paint for the base.

My favorite part about warmer weather coming, is using fresh flowers throughout our house. That is my one splurge. It’s a weakness really. If I could always have fresh flowers in every room of our house I would be one happy girl! My husband would think we lived in a funeral parlor, but truthfully, it’s my one must have decor item.

Another new change that just recently happened, was I finally replaced our blue and white striped chair slipcover, with a white one. I always loved the blue and white striped one, but it had seen better days. We got it at the same time we got our white slipcovered sofa, but for whatever reason it took a bigger beating, so it was time for an update. I didn’t even hesitate getting another white slip cover from Ikea, knowing how easy they are to keep clean, and for the first time ever all of my living room furniture has white slip covers!

I still love our “Rare Treasure” sign by Between You & Me. It is such a staple now in our living room, and it’s message is so close to my heart. I smile every time I see it, because I’m reminded of the promise of God’s word, and the treasure of getting to know Tara through the process of them making this custom sign for me.

White_chairs

As much as I loved my spring table in the dining room, fresh flowers don’t last forever, and I had an idea for a fun Easter table. I will beΒ sharing all the details on our Easter table next week, but I had to give you a sneak peak today!

I also scooped up these four new candlesticks from Kirklands, because I love to stagger them in different heights along the center of the table. They are an antiqued white, and I loved the shape and style of them. I also stacked the new gray Kirklands pillows behind the gray and white striped ones I already had from H&M. I love adding layers wherever I can, to makes spaces feel cozy and comfortable that you want to sit and linger for awhile.

I can’t wait to share more of the details that went into this tablescape next week, including how I made each egg themed place setting. I hope you enjoyed more spring around our house, and for more inspiration be sure to check out the rest of the home tours! Don’t forget as part of teaming up with Kirklands, they are giving away 3 $100 gift cards, so you can add a little spring into your home too! To enter visit this post here, and Good Luck!

      Hi Lynn! It’s from Between You & Me Signs, you can find them on Etsy. I also shared a direct link to it, in a post back in the fall I believe it was titled “New sign in the living room”? If you try to search it πŸ™‚

    What color are the blinds? They look tinted purple or lavender. Or is it just the lighting in the photo? Where did you purchase the blinds? I love the light and airy feel of the rooms.
