Fall Cider Cocktail Recipe

The weather has been crisp. Waking up to temps in the low 60’s and drinking pumpkin spice coffee, definitely makes things feel like fall is in the air. With the change of seasons approaching, and holidays getting closer, I find myself wanting to hit the pause button on life. Well maybe not the pause button, but more like slow motion. I find myself just wanting to soak in every little possible detail and make the most out of every moment. Making sure nothing passes by that I haven’t soaked in, and fully appreciated before it passes me by. I find myself wanting to cling to every holiday tradition, and put an importance on them once again and not get lost in the “busy” we can so easily find ourselves trapped in. Saying no to busy and yes to having more meaningful time.  I have a group of friends who I know feel the same way I do. So this fall and holiday season we are compiling all our decor and inspirational ideas, our family traditions, and love for a meaningful, simpler time called “Farmhouse Holiday Series” over the holiday season. Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series Today we are kicking things off with, sharing some fall recipe’s with all of you, so be sure to stop by everyone on the tour. We love to entertain in the fall, so today I’m sharing my go-to fall cider cocktail recipe. It’s a favorite for sure, and the apple cider makes this fall recipe a staple.

A fun fact about myself is, before we had kids I used to be a bartender at a local steak house. I loved the rush and busy-ness of working in a restaurant, and bartending was definitely an exciting factor in that. Plus it was really a lot of fun, and not being a big drinker prior to that, I learned a ton. From how to mix different liquors and different drink recipe staples. This wasn’t a drink that we served at the restaurant, but stemmed from all my experience I gained there. There a few factors that I think make this recipe a success, and I will point those out as I share. Who’s thirsty?!

It’s all in the details with this step! The sweetness from the blend of sugar and cinnamon along with a slight spice of the nutmeg add a special touch to your cocktail. A staple for any good drink is an added touch that compliments the beverage.

So let’s get started. Before I even begin to make my drink, I make the cinnamon nutmeg rimmer. This is really easy. Combine 2 Tbl of sugar, 1 Tbl cinnamon and 1Tbl of nutmeg on a shallow plate. Use either a lemon wedge or for extra sweetness some caramel syrup and line the rim of your glass. This will ensure that your sugar rim will stick. Turn your glass upside down and press into sugar rim, making sure to cover entire rim. Once this is complete you are ready to make your cocktail! Fill your glass with ice. One of the staples I think makes this drink a success is choosing the right whiskey. To clarify, I am NOT a whiskey drinker, like not at all, lol. So to be recommending whiskey seems totally unnatural for me, however it can be a deal breaker for this drink. Fall Cider Cocktail Recipe | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I chose Cabin Fever maple whiskey, because it’s made with real maple syrup and adds just the right amount of sweetness to this drink. Pour 1/4 cup maple whiskey over ice. This should fill up your glass about 1/3 of the way. Fall Cider Recipe | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Then pour in a heaping cup of your favorite apple cider. I say heaping, because I don’t really use a measuring cup for this process, but you want to fill your cup until it’s 3/4 of the way full, leaving room for a caramel liquor swirl on top. Fall Cider Cocktail Recipe | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Your portions can be slightly adjusted depending on your alcohol tolerance, but I like to enjoyFall Cider Cocktail Recipe | Rooms FOR Rent Blog my cocktail not burn my throat in the process, lol. To finish it off I pour a swirl of caramel vodka on the top. This usually ends up equaling 1/4 of cup, but can be slightly less as well. This can also be left out for those that prefer a less sweet option.

Another fun tip about this cocktail is it can be served either chilled over ice, or hot. It’s great for sipping around a fire, and it an easy beverage that everyone will love. One thing I have learned in hosting is things don’t always have to be fussy or elaborate to be meaningful. Sometimes lifes simple pleasures, like the familiar taste of Apple Cider brings a feeling of nostalgia that friends and family are sure to love. Fall Cider Recipe | Rooms FOR Rent Blog
