Have you noticed a shift in the home decor this past year? I sure have, and I am loving the outcome. Although I tend to stick to a more classic approach in design, there are definitely a few new trends on the top of my list to incorporate into my decor, and some I’ve already started to bring in! Today I’m going to share with you some design trends I’m loving right now, and a fun little video to go along with it!
A crisp white backdrop makes it easy for details to pop. One of my favorite trends is adding a large arrangement of fresh clipped branches as a focal point. We all know adding greenery to a space adds life, and I love a simple clean design that involves a BIG pop of green.
However, I don’t always have that luxury in the winter months. So finding good faux greenery helps me carry that trend through our long New England winters.
When I’m looking for good faux greens I always go for the ones that look the most life-like and I don’t settle for anything less. Sometimes that can tend to be a little more money than others, but in my opinion it is well worth the extra cost to have something that people can’t tell if it’s real or not!
Another trend I’m loving comes in double form with these light.
Antiqued brass and swing arm wall sconces! This has got to be my favorite trend right now, and I know it’s been around for a little while, but I think it’s here to stay. Swing arm sconces brings a timeless look in design with it’s vintage vibe, while also maintaining a hot trend in design as a #1 choice to add to spaces. They add interest to the space not mention additional lighting and warmth with their soft glow.
Here are few more trends I’m loving and hope to add to our home in 2017!
Shibori mud-cloth pillows. I love the interest and texture they offer, and the variety of colors from soft denim to rich navy blue.
Rattan ANYTHING! This relaxed material is perfect for anyone wanting to add texture and a relaxed vibe to their spaces. It’s definitely a go-to in my book, and one of the #1 I strive to add interest to a space when decorating.
Turned legs anything! LOL. But seriously I love the look of turned legs, it has an heirloom feel, and adds so much interest to a space by switching things up from having all straight lines. I’m dubbing this look “Get Curvy With Me”! You can also shop this post by clicking any of the images below.

I’m not sure where I read it, but I understand that fiddle fig leaf is going to have to move over for faux citrus plants.
