Spring Porch Refresh

05/04/2017 By Bre

4 May

The rain has finally stopped. Although the extended forecast says we are in for more, but for now it stopped long enough for me to refresh our porch for spring. Once warmer temps start to hit here in New England, it’s like everything comes to a screeching halt, and we turn our attention to all things outdoors. I think our long winters really help us appreciate the warmer months, and being outside. However you can’t fully enjoy it unless you have a space to sit down and relax, and enjoy it in. After creating our outdoor patio space last year with Joss & Main, I was excited to team up with them again this spring and this time give our farmers porch a little attention. It is my go-to spot once the warm weather hits.

Whether it’s to enjoy a cup of coffee, to sit and read a book, eat my lunch, or just sit back and watch our chickens roam our yard, I love sitting on our porch! Since we put all or our outdoor furniture away for the winter, it truly does feel like a refresh setting things up outside. Spring Porch | Rooms FOR Rent BlogBefore I put anything on our porch, I wash it all down, siding included. We get so much dust and dirt that blows up there throughout the winter, so every spring I get the hose out and give it a good scrubbing.Spring Porch | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Once I have my clean slate, literally – lol, I start by bringing out my biggest items first, and then fill in around them making things cozy. It doesn’t take long before we have have a warm and inviting porch. I changed things up a little this year, by adding a new bench and console table, and I think you will love the change as much as I do! Spring Porch | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Lets talk about this console table first, because I’m just a tad obsessed with it! It’s the perfect size, and gives me work space to fiddle with my plants, but also doubles as the perfect serving station.

I created this cute drinking station, so we can grab a fresh glass of cucumber mint water while we sit and relax outside. I corralled everything in a tray basket, which keeps things together, and makes it easy to move too!Spring Porch | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I LOVE the texture and the color of this white washed rattan serving tray. It is solid! It’s so sturdy, and can handle carrying some weight, which I love, it’s not flimsy at all. Spring Porch | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I hung some additional planters from the ceiling just to had some height and interest about my table, and totally made this spot a little cozier. Spring Porch | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I also love the shelf underneath. I could totally see placing some baskets on it for additional storage or a tray to corral gardening items, or a bucket to hold drinks on ice. The possibilities are endless.

Just past my make shift beverage station, I created a seating area with a beautiful new bench from Joss & Main. It’s nice and wide, so you can sit back and relax, but just the right width that it fits perfectly on our farmers porch. Spring Porch | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I also added some fun new throw pillows from Joss & Main, because one can never have too many throw pillows, LOL! I loved the texture of this knitted fringe pillow. It was totally different from any other pillow I have, so I knew it would be perfect for adding some interest and texture to the space, as well as freshening up the look of our porch for spring.

Another detail that totally caught my eye was the turned legs on this wooden bench. It’s details like that, I will look for in pieces because it adds so much character to the overall space.

I had some fun adding plants to our planters this year. I got a few different fern types, and different grasses for height. My favorite however is this huge gardenia on the end. It’s beautiful fragrant fills our porch, and is so heavenly. I’m still bringing it in at night to protect it from our colder temps, but I’m happy to give it all the TLC it needs.

I don’t think it’s a secret that I love a good pop of navy and white mixed together. This diamond trellis throw pillow is also new from Joss & Main, and comes in three colors, but I couldn’t resist that navy blue!

I love everything on your porch-especially the table, bench and gray cushion. You have arranged it all beautifully. I would never have thought to put grasses in pots like that. And that is the biggest gardenia I have ever seen!
Hope you get plenty of time & nice weather to sit out there.
