Hello friends!! Happy Monday, I hope you had a wonderful weekend! There is something so refreshing about the weekend, we love to curl up and just relax and refresh on the weekends. Our weeks are so busy, that we’ve found it absolutely necessary to take time to allow proper rest on the weekends, and time spent with the family so that we can return to Monday and be ready to tackle the week ahead. Our #1 space to relax in is our living room, and I hinted in a previous post that I am getting ready to switch a few things out. I love our white slip-covered sofa, seriously I think I am a W.S.C.S.F.L. (white – slip – covered – sofa – for – Life!) kind of girl, however, I’ve been itching to change things up a little. I will share more on how I plan to do so soon, but in the meantime I wanted to share with you 18 living room that don’t have a white couch. They totally inspire me. They are light and bright, and if white sofas are not a good fit for your, than this post is for you!
I think a common thought is if you don’t have a white slip covered couch your room will feel dark, but as you can see in these rooms, it’s just not the case. These rooms are light and bright, and oh-so-cheery!

Monochromatic color schemes in a neutral palette keep these spaces feeling soft and fresh. It keeps things feeling fresh and clean, and not cluttered even though there is more color in these living rooms.
You’ll notice on thing these living rooms have in common is plenty of texture. Natural fibers, and fresh greens, add plenty of texture to these clean lined sofas. I even love the addition of layered rugs in the photo below. A perfect way to add depth, without competing with the rest of the space.

I also love the look of mixing sofa’s. Not your traditional matching set, but coordinating colors around the rest of the space, help bring the two sofa’s together in design, even if they are different styles, or don’t match in color. It’s a collected look done just right ๐
Let’s talk leather. I think sometimes it’s assumed that I don’t like dark sofa’s or leather sofa’s because I don’t have one. Not the case at all. I actually really like leather as an option. If I were to pick a leather sofa I would choose a style that was simple with clean lines, or tufted, and one with a natural looking color.
I love how leather can add a lot of warmth to a space, especially if there is a lot of white being used. Choosing throw pillows that have a lot of texture help soften the look.
Or leather can be used as a great accent to add warmth to a space as well, like the photo below with the accent chairs.
If you’ve been following my blog for awhile than you know I love using the color navy throughout my home. Here you see variations of navy and dark gray, that act as neutrals only they aren’t white. It’s a great pet friendly option, or if you don’t have the slip cover option where you can wash them, it’s still a great way to have a neutral look without the high maintenance of white.
The space below I have to say is probably my absolute favorite! I love the soft color of the charcoal linen sectional. There is plenty of white in the space, with lots of natural elements to keep these space feeling anything but lacking.
And even though the photo in the space below isn’t highlighting a non-white sofa, I love the use of a pair of dark accent chairs, while the room still feels very light and bright.

I hope you have found this round of of living rooms that don’t have a white couch as inspiring as I do. I created a collage below for an easy Pin It reference:

I love this!! I used to have a sweet white couch as a single girl but getting married and having a man (and big dog!) living in my house just made it really difficult to keep. I know lots of people do it! But for us, he constantly felt like he was “getting the couch dirty” and I was stressed about it. So we are looking for a leather sofa. I lean towards light and bright so I am nervous about it being too dark/heavy. But being able to just wipe dirt/dog hair off a leather couch would be revolutionary for us. These are some wonderful ideas! Thank you so much for the inspiration!

I love your style! I too like navy. We have a gray couch with navy and white decor. I even bought a navy herringbone rug for the sunroom from Pottery Barn KIDS!
