Hello friends! I hope you weekend has been wonderful. I just wanted to pop in and share some exciting news with you! We are featured in this months publication of Yankee Magazine! Thank you SO much to those of you who have already left comments congratulating me on this wonderful feature! If you aren’t familiar with it, it is an extremely prestigious publication here in New England. They do a wonderful job of capturing the essence of New England, and highlighting so many wonderful things about this part of the country. The magazine itself was first published in 1935, and if you’ve ever wondered about what it is like to live in New England, you will have a hard time not wanting to move here after reading their magazine. It’s funny since most magazines shoot a year in advance, it was amazing to have them in our home last summer, and then it’s like another surprise once you get to tangibly see the published shoot.
Honestly it’s such an honor, seriously words can’t even begin to describe the honor and gratitude I feel to be in their magazine. This is our 4th time being featured in a magazine, and I can honestly say it never gets old. Here is a little highlight of the article.
Bre indicates the half walls topped with columns that divide the dining and living rooms. “This was the selling point for me,” she says. The feeling of open space, the uncluttered style … it’s an oasis of calm. “Weathered wood, white, and anything slipcovered—it’s what I’m known for.”
It’s always a delight to see how they choose to feature our home in magazine articles. Which photos they will chose, what details they will highlight. Of course the 2 page spread above is one of my most favorite views in our home. However, I think you’ll agree with me, when I turned the page to see the photo below, I squealed with delight to see a candid shot of me and my daughter made the feature!
An entire wall of gray chalk paint, which Bre mixed herself, evolved as a solution to another problem: The wall abutting the dining room bumps out, creating a wall on two planes. “I wanted to turn this quirky thing into something that looked purposeful and was pretty as well,” she says. “I’ve grown tons in figuring out how to disguise unsightly things.”
I realize the publication is pretty native to New England, so if you can’t get your hands on a copy, you can also check out the article online HERE.
But if you happen to be from my neck of the woods, and are standing in the grocery store check out line, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for calming blue hued cover, and grab a copy to see the feature for yourself!

This article just showed up in my email this morning. I live in Florida but grew up in the Queen City so fairly close to your neck of the woods. It was a nice article and I like your blog. Inspiring…those faux potted plants were terrific.

Congratulations, Bre, from one “New English” (a John Gorka term) gal to another. I have fond memories of reading Yankee magazine while growing up. I will have to see if my local store has a copy. Best wishes!

I’m new to your blog, but looking at this post, I can’t wait to dig in and read/see more! I’m in Canada, and no where near the coast, but the ocean is where my heart is, and I love decorating in coastal style. Congrats on your magazine feature!

Bre, I too live in New Hampshire, Amherst in fact… and I’ve been getting Yankee magazine for quite sometime. It’s a great publication.
When I got this months magazine I started flipping through it and said, Hey, I know that room… I know that lady! I was so happy for you! I don’t believe I have seen them do many stories on home decorators so it must be quite an honor for you. May it grow your business and may it bless your heart.
Your daughter is beautiful and so are you!
Bre says
Thank you so much Christine!!! It truly is an honor 🙂

Wow Bre, I am so happy and excited for you! You truly deserve this! Your home is beautiful and unique. Anyone who dedicates themselves to there family, home and an awesome job the way you do, deserves some recognition! I hope I can find the magazine, but since I’m a Southerner and not a Yankee (lol!) I may not be able to find one. I tell all my family and friends about the blogs I follow and I refer to some of you as “my friends” from New England, Michigan, Kentucky and my home state of North Carolina, so I would love to show them pictures. May sound silly, but I do feel after awhile of following and commenting to each other, there is a type of friendship there. Anyway…Congratulations! Let’s stay in touch!!
Bre says
Thank you Thank you Thank you!! And I quite know what you mean, it is a friendship, even though we haven’t met in person, I consider this the “modern day” pen pal!!
Pam Beck says
Bre, that’s perfect…”pen pals”, I hadn’t thought of that. I look forward to our next conversation and your next amazing post!! Take Care!!
