Recently I took on a small design client. After making the decision two years ago to no longer work with clients, I wondered if I ever would again. This was a friend of the family, who was renovating an old farmhouse, and needed help coming up with a design plan for their master bathroom. I get it, when you are renovating a whole house, there are a lot of details and decision makings involved, so having a fresh set of eyes help make those choices on style and tile, can really help. While I was creating her design board I realized just how much your design choices can dictate the style of the space. So today I’m sharing a Master Bathroom Design, 3 different ways! Check it out ~
Just like in my Front Door decor post, the accessories you choose, can make a big impact on the over style of your design. I’ve said it before and with their being so many different variations or takes on farmhouse style these days, the choices are nearly endless.
In all three of these designs I created, 3 things stayed the same. The vanity, the wall color and the window treatment. Honestly, I could have kept more pieces the same, but for the sake of showing variety I stuck with the those. Just styling the same vanity 3 different ways was exciting, and then it made me realize how quickly someone could get design paralysis with all the choices out there!
I decided to attach each one to a particular design style, to make them easier to define. Let’s take a look ~
Vanity | Mirror | Vanity Lights | Faucet | Flooring | Subway Tile | Window Blinds | Laundry Baskets | Star Pendant Light | Towel Bar
You can never go wrong with classic white subway tile. For this Cottage style bathroom design, white washed wood look tile, and more rustic vanity lights add a more relaxed look you would see in a cottage. A farmhouse style faucet and towel bar add to the historic charm most cottages carry, keeping the overall feel of this bathroom charming. This neutral bathroom is full of details that give it character and warmth, like woven seagrass laundry baskets, and mercury glass star pendant light, that is the perfect accent to hang over a tub!
Vanity | Mirror | Vanity Light | Faucet | Gray Subway Tile | Hexagon Marble Tile | Window Blinds | Chandelier | Bath Mat | Laundry Baskets | Palm Leaf
Galvanized metal vanity lights and cool toned tile lean more towards a breezy coastal feel in this design board. Choosing elements that are monochromatic, and accessories like palm leaf branches add costal charm without feeling overly beachy. Think clean, cool, relaxing – all the things you would feel at a charming New England bed & breakfast in a quaint coastal town. Elegance is paired equally with a light and airy feeling, to keep this coastal farmhouse design relaxed!
Vanity | Mirror | Vanity Light | Faucet | Subway Tile | Slate Tile | Window Blinds | Laundry Baskets | Chandelier
Modern subway tile, and clean lined slate tile keep this Modern Farmhouse design fresh and crisp! Farmhouse fixtures like a vintage looking faucet and school house vanity lights bring in the charm of the farmhouse era. It’s simple and clean design is a modern take on farmhouse style, and lends a fresh feel to this timeless look. Think simple but not lacking in design with classic color choices and clean design lines, this bathroom feels totally up-to-date on style!
It always amazes me at how much the overall feel of a room can change depending on what design choices you make. If you are having a hard time choosing, go back to the basics. What are your all time favorite color choices. Weigh out your options in finishes, and lighting choices. It’s great to compare styles, because then you can really narrow down what you love!
