I mentioned in yesterdays post how one of the ways I love to add layers into my rooms is by layering area rugs. Now I get that this isn’t always doable at first when you are decorating, because affording one new area rug can be pricey on it’s own. But when looking for areas to add more layers to your spaces this is a great way to achieve that layered look we all desire, without over complicating things. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite layered area rug looks.
Come and see ~
Over the last 5 years, I have tried out a few different area rugs layered on top of my jute rug. Depending on the mood I’m craving, or how I want the overall look of the room to feel depicts the pattern and color I choose for the rug layered on top.
My jute rug underneath is an 8×10 in size. So I typically like to choose a 5×7 area rug to layer on top, so you get to see both rugs. The blue striped rug about is a 4×6, a little bit smaller than I like but still adds a lot to the space.
To stay more budget friendly, I try to make sure the top area rug I’m using to create the layered look with is $150 or less. This is also something that can be added later too. And if you already have layered area rugs, it’s a fun way to refresh the look of your room, without getting all new furniture.

Can you recommend a place to order vinyl roll flooring with a vintage and/or small print design?
