Hello Friends!
After having what seemed like the most mild fall in history, our temps here in New England are telling us winter is on it’s way! In fact we’ve already had some snow fall, but with temps in the 70’s a few days later, it melted pretty quickly. With porch sitting weather no longer in season, I start to get our outdoor spaces prepped and ready for winter. Patio furniture gets put away, and any remaining signs of fall – i.e. our pumpkins, get fed to the chickens. Since we do get some snow on our farmers porch in the winter, I like to keep the furniture on it minimal. Making it easy to clear and walk on for shelter from the winter elements. I cleared off our porch the other day to start the process of outdoor prep, and created this sweet little Christmas Tree Farm vignette, perfect for the upcoming holidays, but something that can last all winter long.
Come and take a look ~
I grabbed a bin from the basement that had some of my favorite “realistic” looking garland, along with some faux evergreen trees, and headed to the porch.
After removing all of our warmer weather furniture, I decided to bring over this outdoor potting table I made earlier this summer. Don’t worry – you didn’t miss anything, I haven’t actually shared this before. And I made it so fast ( in 1 hour), I didn’t even have a chance to take pictures along the way.
The design is simple, and I made it from some of the reclaimed barn wood we already had. I was in need of some more serving space when we have BBQ’s in the summer, and this reclaimed wood table can double as a serving station and potting table when needed.
The inspiration for this year’s winter porch look, THIS Christmas Tree Farm Canvas from Lindsay Letters. I’ve been a long time fan of Lindsay’s, her artwork and hand lettering is always so inspiring to me, so I was thrilled to create this magical scene with one of her holiday pieces at the center of it all.
I finished things off with a few of my favorite table top trees (unfortunately discontinued), and some new smaller potted trees I picked up from Overstock earlier this month (found HERE).
We typically stack cord wood on our porch for our wood stove all winter long, so I had the kids load up the shelf underneath with some wood. There’s nothing quite like the warmth of a fire to keep you cozy in the winter.
I finished things off with a few more trees on either side of the table. I love this simple winter scene. Which reminds me of nostalgic memories of heading out to Christmas tree farms the day after Thanksgiving and cutting down our Christmas tree while sipping hot cocoa.
I also used these trees to create another winter scene for our family Christmas cards this year, that I will be sharing later this week, so stay tuned for that!
See our snow covered porch from last year ~
In the meantime be sure to stop by some of my friends virtual tours, as they begin to spread some Farmhouse Christmas cheer around their homes ~
