Hi Friend!
Our hutch in our dining room is one of the first spots I like to decorate for Christmas. Similar to the open shelves that were in the kitchen of our previous home, I love decorating our hutch with tiny bottle brush trees, filling bowls with ornaments, and tucking in winter greenery throughout for the holiday season. This year I decided to add in my tiny white ceramic houses to create a Christmas village look. I love this look for the holidays, and can’t wait for you to see it!
Come and see ~
I scored this beautiful oak hutch off of Facebook Marketplace a few years ago. It sits on the back wall in our dining room, and I love to decorate it seasonally. My go-to’s when it comes to decorating it for Christmas are tiny bottle brush trees, and filling the bowls with ornaments. However this year I incorporated some of my white ceramic houses I’ve collected over the years (mostly from Target!) and I love how it created this Christmas village look.
I first used these houses to create a Christmas Village on the buffet in our previous dining room, which you can see HERE. Over the years I’ve used these houses in different places around our home when I decorate for the holidays, but decided this year to mostly use them on our hutch. And I love how it turned out.
I placed the houses around my hutch on cake stands, in pairs, or grouped together with tiny trees. I sprinkled tiny ornaments around the houses once they were in place to help add a little more of a Christmas feel. It was such a fun way to decorate the hutch this year, it just might be my favorite look yet!
I love filling trays and bowls with ornaments and sprigs of greenery, and I incorporated this look in my hutch, with some of my everyday serving pieces. It’s a great way to highlight a favorite ornament you have, that can otherwise sometimes get lost when placed on the tree.

Hi Bre, I have admired your hutch (and whole new lovely house) for a while now. Did you ever get a chance to post your how-to for refinishing your hutch? I’d love to recreate the same finish on mine. Thanks so much!

Beautiful contrast of the variegated oak grain against the solid white of the houses – my favorite look too! Happy Holidays!
