Hi friends!
I can’t believe we are less than 10 days away from Christmas. While we have been busy buttoning up a few projects to finish this year, I’m also finding time to squeeze in a little holiday decorating. I find it less overwhelming to focus on one area in our home instead of feeling pressured to have the whole house decorated for Christmas all at once. This allows me to find joy in decorating our home for the holidays even more during this busy time of year. Today, I’m sharing how I styled our fireplace mantel for Christmas.
Come and see ~
This year, I’ve been taking a “less is more” approach to our Christmas decorating. While I love to decorate our home for the holidays, not every year looks the same. Depending on the season our family is in or what life has looked like for us will often dictate how I decorate. Giving myself permission to not have to “do it all” when it comes to decorating and resting in the “just enough” camp keeps me from feeling burnt out.
For this year’s Christmas mantel, I started off by hanging my ‘Rooms for Rent’ sign on the mantel. If you are unfamiliar with the story, this is the sign that inspired the name of my blog. You can read all about it HERE.
With our wood stove burning full time, I opted for a slightly smaller faux garland to hang along the fireplace mantel. Our wood stove produces a lot of heat, so I didn’t want to risk the chance of any accidents or faux garland melting, lol. I tucked in pieces of white winter berry picks along the way to add a little contrast.
I brought out only my very favorite white ceramic houses and placed a few on either side of my sign. To fill in around the houses, I added a few bottle brush trees at different heights to give the appearance of the houses being nestled among the trees.
I finished off my Christmas mantel decor by tucking a few faux cedar stems on top of my sign to slightly drape over the top for an added festive touch. At first glance, I knew I could have added more. In the past, I certainly have. But this year’s theme of “less is more” gave me permission to say this is enough 😉
