Decorating with Faux Stems

02/19/2025 By Bre

Hi Friends!

Without fail every year around this time I start to get the itch for spring. While I’m not ready to fully decorate our home for spring quite yet, I’m ready to breathe a little life back into our spaces. Our winters are long and sometimes feel like they can overstay their welcome. Come the end of February, I’m ready to freshen up the inside of our home even though there may be plenty of snow still left on the ground. Decorating with realistic looking faux stems is just the help my home needs to help me get through as I patiently wait for spring to arrive!

Today I’m sharing some of my favorite faux stems, and how I decorate with them ~

As much as I love to have fresh flowers in the house, or clippings from trees and shrubs around our yard, decorating with faux stems is my go-to when the trees aren’t quite blooming yet. While I have grown in my skills of taking care of house plants over the years, sometimes I prefer the look of leafy branches tucked in a vase instead. I get it, faux branches might not be for everyone, but I have learned that investing in more realistic looking faux stems can be very helpful when you are trying to get through this in-between stage of “is spring ever going to arrive?”

Look for faux stems that are made from latex, or have rubbery stems. These give off a more realistic look when tucked in a vase or jar.

Along with faux stems, I also have a few faux drop-in plants. They come in different sizes, and can be the perfect solution when you are wanting the look of a plant without the maintenance. I love to place them in my hutch, on top of a stack of books, or next to a lamp on a side table to add that little pop of green into a space.

You can also group together smaller faux stems in different sized vases or containers to add a little variety to your decor. This helps break things up from feeling like everything looks the same, and is also another way to add in different textures or patterns.

I’ve had most of my faux stems for years, but I did my best to round up some similar favorites below in case you are also looking to freshen up your home!

  • Eucalyptus Branch
  • Italian Ruscus Spray
  • Leafy Green Bud Branch

Thanks for sharing! I so agree! In fact, I made plans to start my Spring transition March 1st. It seems like Winter will go on forever in NJ. Cheers!
