Hi Friends!!
Today I’m sharing a very special announcement with you!! A new series I am kicking off called: Plant a Garden. If you caught my post on our home project goals earlier this year, you may remember that expanding our raised bed garden has been something we’ve been working toward for a while now. What started as a simple idea quickly got pushed aside as other projects (like our back porch renovation) took priority, and life happens. Instead of simply planting and sharing bits and pieces along the way, I’ll be documenting the entire process of building out our new raised bed garden area — and bringing you along with me every step of the way.
We began clearing the land this past fall, slowly preparing the space so that when spring arrives — whenever that may be (you truly never know in New England) — we’ll be ready to get started.

What I’ll Be Sharing Along the Way
I’ll be sharing a real, step-by-step look at what it takes to create a raised bed garden from the ground up. I want to take you along through the whole process, because while we all love a good before & after, there is so much to learn along the way, and I want to share every step of this journey.
Here’s what I’m thinking, but I’d love to know if there is anything you’re hoping to see that isn’t on my list:
- The process of planning and laying out the garden space
- Building and installing the raised beds
- Soil prep and planting decisions
- What I’m choosing to grow (flowers + vegetables)
- The in-between moments — what works, what doesn’t, and what I’m learning along the way
My hope is that this series feels approachable and encouraging, whether you’re starting your first garden or simply dreaming about one.
Here is what the area looked like before we cleared it ~

And after (don’t worry, I have plans to disguise the pool in the background!)~

Following Along on YouTube
While I’ll be sharing updates here on the blog, I’ll also be documenting this series over on my YouTube channel – HERE, where I’ll be posting short, story-style videos as the project unfolds.
This is something new for me, and if I’m being honest, a little outside my comfort zone. But it’s also something I’ve felt excited about for a while — a way to share more of the process in real time, in a way that feels natural and creative.
If you’d like to follow along, I’d love to have you meet me over there! Click HERE.

A Garden That Grows Over Time
Just like our home, I don’t expect this garden to come together all at once.

There will be phases, adjustments, and plenty of learning along the way. Some things will work beautifully, others may need to be rethought — and that’s all part of the process.
More than anything, I’m looking forward to creating a space that brings both beauty and purpose into our everyday life. A place to grow flowers, gather vegetables, and enjoy the simple rhythms that come with tending to something over time.

Come Grow With Me
If you’ve been dreaming about starting a garden — or even expanding one you already have — I hope you’ll follow along with this series.
Whether you’re here for the inspiration, the ideas, or simply to watch it all come together, I’m so glad you’re here at the start of what feels like something really special.

Hello! I am very touched how you opened up and shared your feelings. I look forward to every one of your posts. I’m in awe of your receptiveness to those wispers that guide. They are so importand and I’m glad they have inspired you. I have signed up and can’t wait for your next video. Cheers!
Thank you so much Carolyn!! That is so sweet of you to say!! And thanks for subscribing 🙂 It felt a little more vulnerable to share those thoughts and feelings, but I also really want to encourage others to try something that they have been thinking about for awhile, even if it does feel scary or new 😉
Hi Bre.
I’m over in Amherst, NH. I’m looking forward to watching and reading your series. Our house is in a very wooded neighborhood, and we have deer that come through. Every year I want to start a small vegetable garden but don’t get to it.
I had one in our previous house in Central Massachusetts. It was all organic and it went pretty well, especially for a first time gardener experience.
I used a book called Square Foot Gardening which is probably 20 years old now. The main point was building small beds and only sowing seeds of what you’ll eat or can. No huge rows of a vegetable that you can’t manage. One other aspect that worked great was succession planting of lettuce. Doing this gives you salad greens slowly over the growing season.
If you want more information you can email me. It will be fun to watch your plans come to fruition. Pun intended!
Christine
Hi Christine!!! Thank you SO much for the tips and your experience with gardens!! I actually really want to try succession planting with lettuce and never have! I keep talking myself out it, or am not quite sure when to start in the season, but I need to do it. I grew a lot of lettuce one year, and we used it all!! It was awesome!
Bre!
This is amazing….you truly have such awesome vision and talents!
Thank you for sharing!!

P.S. Let me know when you want to “treasure hunt” again!!
Hi Mae!!! Thank you SO MUCH!! It always feels a little vulnerable to put yourself out there, but I’m really excited to share this project, and it felt so close to my heart, I wanted a way to be able to document the whole process! I would love to do some treasure hunting soon!! I’ll send you an e-mail 🙂 XO, Bre
