Farmhouse Christmas | 2019

Hello Friends!! I’m so happy you are popping in for a visit because I’m sharing some of the first glimpse’s of this years Christmas decor with you part of the Farmhouse Christmas Tour. If you are coming from Marian’s blog, Miss Mustard Seed, then welcome! I have been a huge fan of Marian’s from oh I’d say Day 1 of my blogging journey, and just adore her vintage farmhouse style, with a touch of European flair. The Christmas decorating has officially commenced in our house, and I’m excited to share our Farmhouse Christmas style with you today!

In case this is your first time here, I just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself real quick! My name is Bre, and my husband and I have lived in our updated New England farmhouse, built in 1846, for almost nine years. We have totally put our mark on this old white farmhouse, while raising our 2 kids, 1 dog, 1 cat, and 16 chickens!

Swapping out my artwork, is a great way to decorate for a new season. I especially love these prints from Vol.25’s new winter collection – Hunter, because I can keep them up well past Christmas, and they will get me through all winter long.

I was sharing in my group on Facebook the other day, that for me when I use the word “farmhouse” to describe a style, it’s not so much the particular style it portrays, but the feeling that it evokes. When I use the word farmhouse to describe my decorating style, it’s not because I’m putting myself in a certain decorating box, but more or less how that style makes me feel.

To me Farmhouse Christmas is a relaxed, cozy vibe with some fun holiday spirit. It isn’t fussy or overly formal, and it embraces so much of that welcoming farmhouse feeling I want throughout our home all year along, but especially at Christmas.

I shared yesterday how I transitioned the throw pillows on my couch over for Christmas, another great way to change up my decor seasonally without breaking the bank. It’s one of the simple switches I do to help my refresh the our living room for the holidays. You can see the entire transition HERE.

Below you can find the sources for my this years Christmas throw pillows :

  • Subtle Red Stripe Throw Pillow – Purple Rose Home
  • Chunky Knit White Throw Pillow – HomeGoods (similar one found here)
  • Plaid Lumbar Throw Pillow – Pottery Barn
  • Merry & Bright Throw Pillow – With Lavender Grace
  • Green Throw Blanket – Amazon

I created a simple holiday floral arrangement for my coffee table out of winter greens, it was so easy to throw together, and adds just the festive touch I was hoping for. I’ll be sharing the tutorial later in the week!

I shared earlier in the month how we had some water damage in our basement this past year, and I lost two Christmas trees to mold 🙁 I shared a round up of the last 4 years of Christmas trees I’ve had, and some that caught my eye while I was looking for a new one. You can read all about it HERE, and I’ll be back tomorrow to share about our new Christmas tree this year.

Bre, you have two kids, do they get to sit in this room? I agree with the use of pillows and pictures to change up the look from season to season without breaking the bank. Why the throw on the trunk?

Yes Darryl, this is our only living room, we don’t have a separate family room, or place the kids hang out, and we “live” in this space. I just make sure that almost everything I have can go in the washing machine, and if there is a spill, we just slip off the covers and get in the wash right away. And I like the throw on the trunk in the winter for extra texture. To me it makes things feel more cozy.
