After sharing my heart a bit here on the blog, I’ve heard from quite a few of you how encouraged you are to pursue your dream. Maybe it’s starting your own blog? Or opening up a shop, or starting your own business. And maybe it’s knowing when to close some doors on one end, because that season is over, and new doors are about to open. For whatever reason I’ve felt inspired to share my heart ramblings on this subject, even though I don’t quite feel equipped too sometimes. Yet, I know God uses it. My vulnerability on the subject, just sharing some simple encouragement because I was once in those shoes myself, and if I’m being honest with myself, there are times I still am. Needing simple encouragement to keep going, to press on, to take the leap, to not be afraid.
It was my blog the gave me the courage to step out in the dream I had as a girl to be an interior designer. If I had never had to courage to start my blog, I wouldn’t be writing you this post today, and I wouldn’t have had the courage to open my own design business – Doucette Design.
It can be so hard sometimes to have courage to step out and create what you desire to share when it feels like everybody else is already doing it. There are plenty of people who do this, so why does there need to be one more? Because it didn’t come from you. In the world where everyone finds ideas on Pinterest it’s hard to come out with something truly unique, on-of-a-kind, never been done before thing. I always struggle with that when it comes to sharing recipes. Which is why I don’t share them all that often, usually when forced too, lol! In truth, I love to cook, and bake, and make yummy treats, and DRINKS, and entertain! But I hardly ever share them on my blog. Not because I don’t want to, in part I don’t really consider myself a food blogger, but I like food enough, and enjoy making it that it feels only natural I should share it with all of you. Yet every time I think about it, and get the courage too, this tiny voice comes in my head saying “somebody else has already shared that before”, and it’s probably going to look better than what I would do, so why bother.
However, I consider you guys all friends. Even though we haven’t all met before, sharing on my blog is like having each and every one of you come into my house for a coffee chat. I share design ideas I love, and things I’m most inspired by, so why not share recipes I love too. Because I don’t know about you, but I always love it when a friend shares a good recipe with me. I don’t for one second think “well she wasn’t the original creator of that”. Nope, truth is, I can’t wait to go home and try it, and once I get home I ask her to text me the recipe again so I can make it for my family.
I share that to say this. Maybe you have been contemplating taking a leap in the creative field. Maybe it is to start your own blog? Maybe you want a booth at a local consignment shop, or an Etsy shop? Whatever that dream is, don’t for one second think there isn’t room for you. It’s a lie. There is room for you too! I’m reminded that there is always room for one more when I listen to music. It doesn’t matter what the genre is no 2 voices ever sound exact alike. And I love that.
You have something only YOU can offer. A voice, a style, a skill. Something unique just from you. You’ve heard the quote “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken”. It’s true, which means we don’t need to look at what everyone else is making or creating, and let that stop us from creating what we are supposed to create!
I can’t tell you that when you share what your create its more for you then it is for others. Yes we share to inspire, uplift, and simply bless those who see. But there is a bigger blessing inside if we only trust to take the risk. Take the risk to step out, to make, to create, to share. I can tell you that when doing so we grow, and learn much about ourselves, and in moments we are filled to the brim knowing that what we were brave enough to put out there inspired somebody else and warmed their soul.
Felling inspired? Encouraged maybe. Check out some of my other posts along this topic, and even my own story:

That was a wonderful thing you are doing, i am retired and really do not wish to pursue any of these but, i agree whole heartedly what you said. As my dear father use to say, “If there’s a will, there’s a way”.
