Every new year, I like to begin by first reflecting on the previous year and then coming up with a goals list for the year ahead. If you caught my 2024 Recap post then you are up to date, and patiently waiting for me to reveal the secret project I finished last year (don’t worry that’s coming next). There is nothing I love more than the sense of accomplishment you get from crossing things off of that to-do list. Lists help me stay on track and remain focused on what to do next. And while not everything gets crossed off of the list when I think it will (remember, life happens), it fills me with motivation to keep going, keep tackling, even if it is just one small change at a time. As we settle into to 2025 I wanted to share some of the goals I have for this year.
2024 Recap
Every year, before we start planning for the new year, I like to pause and look back at the year we’ve just had. One of my favorite reasons in looking back, is I’m reminded of all the progress we have made in and around our house. I vowed to myself when we moved here that I would take my time to savor each transformation, but sometimes I grow impatient with “taking my time”, longing to see more results, faster. Reflecting helps me appreciate all the time and energy I did put in last year, while also giving me fresh motivation for the year ahead.
Our New Old Kitchen Cupboard
I am so excited to share our New {Old} Kitchen Cupboard with you today! I say it’s new old because even though it’s not decades old, it’s loaded with lots of old world character and though purchased second hand it’s new to us! I shared a sneak peek of it on Instagram just before the holidays and mentioned it was probably my favorite find to date, and that statement is 1000% true! I can’t wait to give you a close-up and show you the look of how I’ve styled our new kitchen cupboard so far.
Christmas Mantel | 2024
I can’t believe we are less than 10 days away from Christmas. While we have been busy buttoning up a few projects to finish this year, I’m also finding time to squeeze in a little holiday decorating. I find it less overwhelming to focus on one area in our home instead of feeling pressured to have the whole house decorated for Christmas all at once. This allows me to enjoy decorating our home for the holidays even more during this busy time of year. Today, I’m sharing how I styled our fireplace mantel for Christmas.
Thanksgiving Tablescape | 2024
I love creating a welcoming Thanksgiving table that inspires people to want to come and gather around it. To linger long after the last bite has been taken and dessert has been served. Tablescapes don’t have to be tricky or complicated. This year’s Thanksgiving table is all about creating cozy layers with a warm welcome.
Masculine Office Design Plan
I have some exciting home office updates to share with you. Last month, we began transforming our home office into the space we envisioned creating the first time we toured our home. Over the past three years, we have worked on different projects around our house to make it feel more like us. We had tucked away in our hearts this next project, just waiting for the right time to begin. And it’s finally time! Today, I’m sharing the progress we’ve made so far and our masculine home office design plans.
Planting Spring Bulbs
Last week, I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather we have been having this fall to plant my spring bulbs in our blueberry garden area. It was such a treat to work in the garden this late in the season, and I can’t wait to see what pops up in the spring. You will find links to each spring bulb I planted at the bottom of the post in case you want to plant some flower bulbs to enjoy next spring—it’s not too late!
Back Deck Renovation Progress
We have been steadily working on our back deck renovation over this past summer. I shared our plans with you HERE, and our back deck appearance has changed quite a bit since then. If you’ve been following along in my stories on Instagram, then you have gotten to see a lot of the changes firsthand. But I thought it might be nice to share more of the photo progression here, especially for those who haven’t had a chance to see the progress yet. We aren’t finished with the back deck yet, but the progress is certainly noticeable.
Tabletop Turkey Decor
One of my favorite fall decor staples is my white tabletop turkey. I originally found mine years ago at Target in the clearance section (my favorite spot to hunt for marked-down decor), but since then, I have yet to really see them in the stores. Randomly, I might come across one in HomeGoods, but no place I could share a source online. Until today! Recently, a blog reader asked about my tabletop turkey seen on my fall hutch, and in trying to find her a similar one online, I actually came across a few that I liked. So, I decided to round them up and share them in a blog post in case you might be on the hunt for a tabletop turkey as well!
