It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a room reveal with you. I realize I haven’t even gotten around to sharing our first floor guest room reveal with you (I keep waiting for the perfect rug to finish that room off), but you might not have realized we have another spare bedroom on the second floor that we are using as guest room #2. Our first floor guest room has a king size bed and en suit bath, making it perfect for when our parents come for a visit. Upstairs, I’ve created the sweetest cottage inspired guest room with two antique Jenny Lind twin beds I found at a yard sale, and a few other second hand pieces of furniture.
Raised Blueberry Bush Garden Bed
Summer is in full swing here, and with comes some of my favorite kind of work – gardening! We have been chipping away at different areas of yard, since moving into our new home two years ago, and today I’m sharing some of the progress we’ve made so far in our raised garden bed. This space is actually one large rectangle, that has about a dozen blueberry bushes in it, some which are quite mature. So I refer to this area as our Raised Blueberry Bush Garden Bed.
Fireplace Makeover | Part 1
When I first shared our fireplace on social media, so many of you weighed in and gave input as to how to give this fireplace a makeover. I knew refreshing this fireplace was going to require more than just a quick fix if I wanted it to feel like it was always apart of the home. So today I’m sharing all the ideas we’ve thought through, the solutions to some of those ideas, and why we aren’t doing some of the more common ideas you see in fireplace makeovers.
Currently Loving | vol. 9
Summer is just about in full swing here. It’s crazy to think that we are already halfway through the month of June. Halfway through the year. With summer knocking on our doorstep, I wanted to share some of things that I’m currently loving this time of year. From my favorite candle scents, to gardening tools, and a few other things mixed in between, this is what I’m currently loving right now!
The Gift of Making a Mistake
Recently I was chatting with a friend about her home, and she was sharing with me how she had all sorts of ideas on things she wanted to do in her new home, but that she was afraid of making the wrong choice. Sound familiar? I think we all experience decorating paralysis at one time or another. In some areas we can be so sure of our design choices, but in other areas we can get so stuck second guessing ourselves that we feel paralyzed to the point where we can’t even make a decision out of fear we will make the wrong one. Have you been there? I know I have, even with our new house. But I’ve also learned the gift of making a mistake when it comes to decorating my home, so today I’m sharing about making mistakes with our home decor, and the gift that comes from taking chances.
3 Spring Centerpiece Ideas
It finally feels like spring is on it’s way here in New England, and I couldn’t be more excited! While we are still waiting to see spring bulbs pop up from the ground, our grocery stores have been filled with a variety potted spring bulbs. I think it’s no secret around here that I love setting a beautiful table, so with all the spring inspiration around me, I wanted to share 3 different spring centerpiece ideas with you to celebrate the arrival of Spring. Each centerpiece is completely different, but I think you will find all 3 ideas have one thing in common – spring bulbs! I’d love to know which one is your favorite? So come and table a look, and be sure to let me know in the comments at the end of the post.
My Go-To Painting Tools
I don’t think it’s much of a surprise around here for you to know how much I love to paint. Not only is it my favorite most inexpensive way to transform a room, I also thoroughly enjoy it. Like really enjoy painting, lol. For me it’s therapeutic. I love to grab my paint brush, put on a good audio book or podcast, and getting lost with my thoughts. However, I know painting isn’t for everyone, but I also know that having the right kind of tools can help make the job go a whole lot smoother. So today I’m sharing with you my go-to painting tools. These are my tried and true first picks. The tools I reach for every time I go to paint, and I’ve rounded them all up in todays post.
Currently Loving | vol. 8
It’s time for another installment of Currently Loving. Every once and awhile I like to share these “catch-up” posts, where if you and I were to meet over coffee, I would share all the things I’m loving lately! While there really is no rhyme or reason to what I choose, it’s just a random mash-up of the things that have either caught my eye, or I can’t get enough of. With the seasonal change right upon us, it felt fitting to share some of things I’m loving right now as we enter into spring!
Welcome March | the In-Between Season
We have made it halfway through March! For us New Englanders, we like to refer to March as the final month of winter. However, I know that for some of you, you are already enjoying bits of spring. We’ve had our two biggest snow storms over the past two weeks, and I kept repeating to myself “In like a lion, out like a lamb” as I watch giant snow flakes fall outside my window. A popular childrens book I was read in grade school about spring. While we wait for spring to officially arrive, it got me thinking how March can very much feel like a season of “in-between”. Do I still need my winter coat and beanie? Or will a light spring jacket do? And how this can also be true in life as well as we shift through different seasons. So whether you are currently navigating a season of “in-between” in life, or like me just waiting for spring to arrive with warmer weather, today I want to offer a little bit of encouragement while we patiently wait together.
