I can remember a time when I didn't know what Farmhouse style was. Heck, I don't even think Farmhouse was an option of a style you could even choose from. Nowadays it seems to be everywhere. Before, if you wanted farmhouse style you could had to DIY your own decor to get the look, because most of its' signature pieces were only found on curbside yard sales and in certain parts of the country. European grain sack fabric, original tobacco baskets only found in the south, antique dough bowls, dusty galvanized buckets. Now you can head to just about any home decor store and find those items on the shelves. ... Read More about Farmhouse Style & My favorite things GIVEAWAY!
10 Inspiring Spring Vignettes
Vignettes make my heart sing! I'm not quite sure why exactly I'm drawn to them so much, but I have been creating vignettes long before I knew that's what they were called. I would come home from school and spend hours in my room arranging my knick knacks into little vignettes on my dresser and my nightstand, and find myself so content. It's one of the first things I like to do welcome in a new season, so today I've rounded up some inspiring spring vignettes to share with you! ... Read More about 10 Inspiring Spring Vignettes
DIY Hanging Basket
Hello Friends! There's nothing like doing a little Spring DIY to get you in the mood for Spring. Our temps are still in the low 30's, and even though they appear to be stuck there, I'm willing my way into Spring with the decor inside our home. I've had this hanging basket for a few years now, but decided to give it a little makeover to freshen things up for Spring. Come and take a look! ... Read More about DIY Hanging Basket
DIY Antique Dresser
Friends!! Thank You SO much for all your kind remarks about the new antique dresser in our kitchen I shared with you yesterday!! Isn't it crazy, when you change up a space or look at an area in a new way in our homes how refreshing it can be! It was bittersweet for me to swap out the beloved bench we had there for so many years, but the truth was it just wasn't serving our families needs the best anymore. I no longer needed a spot to be able to sit my two toddlers to help with their shoes, and was in desperate need for some more storage, and this antique dresser provided all of that. As promised, I'm back today to share with you just how I gave this dresser a makeover to get the look you see ... Read More about DIY Antique Dresser
New Antique Dresser in the Kitchen
Hello Friends!! There is nothing like starting the week off with revealing a new project! I've been on "project organize the house" since all the Christmas stuff has long been put away. Really analyzing each area around our home to make sure it functions well for what our needs are as a family. I've been organizing our closets, and actually have a fun project planned for a back hall closet, which all got started by the re-evaluation of our current shoe situation in the kitchen. ... A NEW Book & a GIVEAWAY!
Happy Friday Friends!! First I want to say THANK YOU so much for all of your sweet comments about how I decorated our entryway this year. I know sometimes in decorating it's easy to know what to do with the pretty stuff, but the unsightly everyday items we need can sometimes be more tricky... like a dog kennel, lol! You can see our refreshed entryway HERE, but today we are going to PARTY!! My friend Karianne from the blog Thistlewood Farms has a new book coming out, and guess what?! It features our entire house!! And to celebrate, we are doing a GIVEAWAY! ... Read More about A NEW Book & a GIVEAWAY!
Spring Entryway | 2019
Hello Friends! I was joking with a friend yesterday, and made the comment "One more week and we've made to March!". Here in New England our gray winter days can sometimes feel like the last forever, and this year I have found myself craving all things spring earlier and earlier. I'm joining some friends today as we share a little bit of spring around our homes, and I thought I would share how I'm spreading some spring in the entryway. ... Paint Colors around our Home
Over the next month or so I'm in the process of updating all the sources and Main home tour for the blog. It's been seriously neglected, and I'm embarrassed to say that the last "official" Home Tour I have on the blog is from 2015! Yikes!! So I've been working on categories, and this is the next step. One of the most frequent inquiries I get is about the paint colors in our home. I will be creating a separate page just for the paint colors in our home, and be sure to tell you once it's up and where it is located, but in the meantime I wanted to give you an updated post of paint colors around our home, for anyone that has been curious. ... Happy Valentines Day!
While I don't have any gift ideas or Valentine's day crafts to share with you, I did want to take a moment and leave you this note. A thank you note of sorts if you will. I don't decorate for every holiday, yes it's true, and valentine's day happens to be one of them. It's not that I don't want to, but in the busy schedules we keep, it's just one of those areas I don't get around too, and if I'm being honest - I'm 100% ok with that. In the past I might have felt like I was failing because I didn't decorate for every holiday, and add some type of festive touch to our home. I mean after all it's what I love to do! ... Hello Friends!! I don't know about you, but after the house has been cleaned, and organized and everything put back in its rightful place, sometimes during this time of year, these long winter days can feel relentless. Well at least here in New England. Instead of wishing these months away, I tend to gravitate towards doing a project. It doesn't have to be a big project, sometimes just a simple DIY to help the days pass and get out some of that creative energy from being cooped up inside does the trick. So I've gone through past post, and rounded top 5 DIY's to help us get through these long winter days, just in case you happen to be craving something to do! ... New Categories on the Blog
Hello friends!! Happy Friday! I can't believe the weekend is already here. I've been doing some work behind the scenes here on the blog, and I wanted to share with you, so it hopefully makes things a little easier to find. One of my biggest goals when I switched over to this new blog design was to make things easier to find. Photos, posts, categories - all of it more user friendly. Part of this new design has allowed me to be more specific with how I am able to display older posts, so I have created some new categories here on the blog, in hopes that it will make things easier for you, my beloved readers! ... Dining Room {2019}
Our dining room has taken on many looks over the past 8 years since we've lived in this house. I've shared the progression our dining room took, showing where we started, and how I got it to the space you see today. You can read all about it HERE. Then this past fall I did something I had been pining to do for over a year, and that was to paint it a new darker color for the first time since I originally painted it Wood Smoke when we moved in. It's been about 5 months, and I'm still loving the new color I chose - Peppercorn by Sherwin Williams. I took some photos the other week, mostly because the only photos I really had with the new color on the walls, our dining room was decorated for a ... Read More about Dining Room {2019}
