I know, we all know you make lemonade. But what happens when you are out of sugar? Or in my case you just can't reach it?! If you caught my post on Instagram over the weekend, than you may have an idea of what I'm talking about it. But in case you missed that, or aren't on Instagram, I broke my foot while we were on vacation last week. We had a sun filled week on the beautiful coast of Maine with my sister and her family. We love this spot, and have gone back every year since our son was born. The houses have been in the family for decades, on a private beach nestled between two main attraction beaches, and we love that we are blessed to have not only a great vacation spot, but a place to ... Art of Home |Modern Simple Living
When you think of the word "home" what comes to mind. Some words that I think of are inviting, warm, comforting, peaceful, safe, refreshing. Maybe some of my words were ones that you thought of too?! It's no surprise that we long for a space that is comforting and refreshes you as you spend time in it. When you think of your home, whether it's a 3 bedroom house, or a studio apartment, does it reflect those words that you think of when you close your eyes and dwell on the word "home"? To me home isn't about the size or status. We use words like "own" or "rent", "apartment", "rent a room" or "house", "single", "married" to describe our status, but it doesn't matter what your status is, any of ... New Antler Art in the Dining Room
It's fun to switch things up, and move things around isn't it?! I've mentioned before, our dining room was the first room I painted in our house, it's a beautiful medium toned warm gray called Woodsmoke by Glidden. It was one of the Better Homes & Gardens color picks for 2011, the year we bought our house, and I'm still loving it just as much as when I first painted it. So while I haven't had an itch to paint it, changing up the wall decor keeps things fresh and new. I think it's no secret that I love antlers. So these new antler wall hangings are the perfect blend of rustic and vintage. ... Read More about New Antler Art in the Dining Room
Coordinating Paint Colors in my Home
Hi friends!! I shared a similar post to this over on City Farmhouse a few months ago, but I thought it would be good to share here too! I get asked a lot of times what the paint colors are in our house, or how I picked them, and this post answers a lot of those questions. When it comes to picking out paint colors, it's one of my favorite things to do. I know some cringe and shutter at the thought of picking out paint colors, but one of my favorite things to do is head to the paint stores and look through all the swatches. I love comparing colors against one another, seeing which ones have more of a yellow undertone vs. a red one. I've been known to repaint a room a time or two just ... Gallery Wall tweaking around the TV
Hi Friends!! I have loved getting all of your feedback from my post on Monday, Creating a Space you Love. I know sometimes it can be intimidating seeing all these beautifully completed spaces styled perfectly on Pinterest. Sometimes you see something you like, but have no idea how to transform your space to resemble the ones you love that you see in pictures. I certainly don't claim to have a magic formula, but I do have a thought process, and it's one I use not only in my own spaces but when I'm working with clients as well. Point in case, the gallery wall in our living room around our TV. ... Read More about Gallery Wall tweaking around the TV
Creating a Space you Love
I think one question I get asked most often, other than where is my white slip-covered sofa from? Is what my style is, or how I would describe my style, and went about decorating our living room. Of course it didn't always look this way, I had a love for interior design, and creating welcoming spaces, but truly loving the space you live in, that takes some time. ... Haven{2015} thoughts and ramblings
First off! I can't believe it's taken me a week to finally sit down and get my thoughts out on my trip to Haven?! Seriously at the same point I can't believe I'm even writing that sentence never mind sharing a re-cap! Haven started my first year of blogging, which seems crazy, but I can remember reading about it and thinking one day I'll go. Then the second year I wanted to go soooooo badly but we were traveling a lot that summer visiting my husbands family out west, so I watched from afar really wishing I could have gone, but it just wasn't in the cards for me. Then last year, I thought to myself maybe this will be the year. Maybe I can finally put Haven on the calendar and make it happen? ... Read More about Haven{2015} thoughts and ramblings
Lowes Spring Makeover
A few weeks back I had the honor of joining my good friend Jen over at City Farmhouse for the Lowes Spring Makeover event. You can catch up on Jen's post explaining more about how people entered to win the makeover here. If you follow me on Instagram you got a few sneak peaks, but have been SO patiently waiting to see the full reveal. Let me just tell you, we had a blast! Jen is just as sweet in person as she appears online, but even more so. She is so kind-hearted we hit it off instantly. For me this was such a fun project because I got to go and just assist her. Usually when I'm working with my own clients I have all the little details to worry about, but it was nice going just to lend a ... Read More about Lowes Spring Makeover
