I’m so glad that so many of you are enjoying these posts of me showing you how the different rooms in our home have evolved. Today I’m sharing my kitchen style and how it has transformed from the what it looked like the day we moved in. I love this transformation because to date – all the cabinets and flooring are the same! Come and see how I transformed our muddy brown kitchen into the bright, airy space you see today ~
My Dining Room Style
Hello Friends!! Last week I shared about how it’s ok if you don’t have your dream house, and why I think that makes you a better decorator, and where to even start with the decor in your own home. So today I’m going to share with you how my dining room style evolved into the space you see today!
Organizing the Buffet
This year I’ve really been embracing the “fresh start” mentality that comes with the new year. I’ve been cleaning out closets and drawers. And one of those places I’ve ignored for far too long is the buffet in our dining room. So today I’m sharing some simple things I did to organize the buffet and made it SO much more efficient.
Details about our Master Bathroom
Hi Friends! If you tuned in yesterday than you caught our Master Bathroom Reveal. I got so many beautiful comments on how the space turned out, and I have to say we are so pleased with the outcome. I mentioned in the reveal I would be back today to share a few more details, because I could have turned the reveal post into a novel, lol. Plus I always like to see more of the transition process in a makeover, and yesterday post was more focused on the final reveal. I’m also going to answer some questions that popped up with the reveal. So let’s get started!
Not too hot, Not too cold, but just Right!
Yep that’s right! That is exactly how I would describe our new curtains in our living room. Not too hot, too cold, but just right! In other words, not too dark, not too light, but just right! You see I love all white, truly I do, but sometimes it feels just a little to blan for me after awhile. And while throw pillows can certainly add their pop of color, I really just wanted something that would cause a bit more of a change.
New Rug in the Dining Room
I finally pulled the trigger on getting a rug for our dining room. I’ve been contemplating different options for a couple years now. Yes YEARS, you read that right. If I’ve learned anything in design, it’s not to rush the process. Don’t make haste decisions that you aren’t 100% confident in. Not only can you potentially waste money, you waste time and energy on a piece that wasn’t meant to be, and it end up stunting your decision to make the right choice because you live with “good enough” for far too long. I actually had a completely different rug picked out for this room, so let me tell you why I ended up pulling the trigger on not only a different color than my original choice, but also a much bolder pattern!
Updated Kitchen Island
I finally decided to take the plunge and update our kitchen island, by painting it a bold color, and it was so easy. So one night around dinner time, because that’s when projects seem to strike, I grabbed my paintbrush, and my favorite chalk paint color and got to work. Or so I thought….
Patio Makeover with Joss & Main
Creating outdoor spaces can seem a bit overwhelming at times, especially when you don’t have a designated space or porch that gives you a spot to create an outdoor space. A few years ago we dug out this corner of our yard, near our barn and created a fire pit area. After a few hard winters the area was starting to look pretty drab, and our inexpensive, quick fix, patio furniture had seen better days. See the entire makeover on the blog!
Bathroom Mini-Makeover
I pushed it off for months and months, but I finally came to the conclusion that giving our bathroom a mini makeover by painting our stripes a new color was mandatory. And I am so glad that I did. Every time I paint with gray I fall in love with the color all over again. Come see which gray I used this time!
