Well I did it, I put up our Christmas tree today! Don’t worry it’s not decorated yet, but its up and it’s pretty white lights are on. It’s like instant magic the moment the lights get plugged in. Every time it instantly evokes a sense of wonder and child like awe for the season. If you are like me, and you don’t necessarily gravitate towards big seasonal changes in your decor, than this post is for you. To decorate for fall, I may not be running for the first orange pumpkin I see, or orange plaid throw blanket, there are steps I take to refresh our living room for fall. Today I’m going to share with you some of my thought process that goes behind how I refresh our spaces as the seasons change.
One of the first place’s I go to decorate for the seasons is our dining room table. It’s a great way to add a seasonal touch without having to change out the bulk of my decor. I know sometimes figuring out just what to put on your dining room table can be tricky. So today I’m sharing a simple fall tablescape idea that will last through Thanksgiving. It’s the perfect time of the year for porch sitting. I will say that we pretty much enjoy our porch all summer long, since our humidity isn’t constant in the summer, but fall is perfect. It’s cool enough the bugs stay away, but still warm enough to enjoy. This year I decided to try something different, NO MUMS! Call me crazy I know, trust me I was thinking the same thing. I love mums just as much as the next person, but I wanted to change things up a bit, and see what I could do without using them. I have to say I’m a bit smitten with the outcome.
