Hello Friends! inspiration, a paint color, a fashion trend, a new gadget, a book, or even song that I can’t stop singing. There’s no particular rhyme or reason, or order in which I share them, just a compilation of all the things that have caught my eye as of lately. Here We Go!
Coffee Chat | vol. 1
Hello Friends!!! I know things have been a little quiet over here on the blog for the last few months, and before I jump back in to regularly sharing on here, I wanted to share a “catch – up” post if you will. Picture it as I’m personally inviting you over for a cup of coffee, only virtually. You know the kind of catch up you do with a friend when you haven’t seen each other in a long time, and a coffee chat is long over due. Well today, you and I are going to have a sort of coffee chat – only it will be online, although I so wish you could be sitting in my living room with me, curled up on our white slip covered couch, with a giant cup of coffee. Or tea, or hot cocoa, or whatever you choose to sip on while we dive deep into conversation. I thought it would be fun to share some photos I’ve snapped around our house over the last month or so while we “chat”.
What I did on the First day of School
Friends, it’s official – our kids are finally back at school and have had their first day. There were a lot of emotions leading up to this day, the uncertainties of how the classroom environment will be. All the “what-ifs” – will they like going back? Will it be weird? How is it going to be wearing a mask? And will they be able to keep up with all the new protocols or should they just stay home? So many emotions, and so my questions I have been in deep thought and spending time in prayer over these past few months leading up to their first day of school. I shared before that we live in a small, rural town, and our kids public school is open to in person teaching – which I know is not the case for many. While I did have my list of concerns and mixed feelings about the whole decision of whether to send them back or not, ultimately I have peace that we made the right decision for our family, and that is key. You should never base your decisions off of what you see everyone else doing for your family, and always spend time praying about it together as a family. With all that being said, their first day back was a success! A great success in fact, and so today I’m just sharing what I did, while my kids where having their first day back to school.
Thoughts on Back to School – and this Mamas Heart
Friends, my heart is heavy as we make our way towards a new school year starting and so many uncertainties still left up in the air. We have twenty-nine days left until the first day of school here in New England, and I know there are other parts of the country who have already begun or will begin in the next couple of weeks. With so much still to decide on it seems that the only thing as of lately that brings me solitude is spending time in our yard with my hands in the dirt, which is exactly what I was doing before I came in to write this down to share with you. I know I don’t always talk about mom stuff or family life, but right now this is what is weighing heavy on my heart, so today I’m sharing some of my thoughts with you as we navigate through these uncharted territories, putting words to feelings I’ve been mulling over, because maybe you too have similar feelings. I know for myself, the moment I am able to put words to exactly what it is that I’m wrestling with, I can think clearer and find peace. So if you are a momma who has been worrying about what this upcoming school year holds, todays post is for you!
Summer Vacation Favorites
Hello Friends!! We just got back from being away on summer vacation! It was so nice to getaway and stay at a house on a lake, just an hour north of us, providing our family the perfect spot to spend some time relaxing on the water! Picture this, coffee every morning overlooking the lake, kids swimming all day, and no phones! We decided to just unplug and enjoy the time away, distraction free. It was heaven! Just before we left, while I was compiling things for our vacation, I rounded up a list of all of my summer vacation favorites. I’m sure there are other lists out there of amazing products, but you know when you find something good, you want to share it with a friend? Well, that’s what I’m doing with all of you!
What I’m Reading Now
I started off 2020 with a personal goal for myself. No, not a list of new years resolutions, but ONE goal that I wanted to challenge myself with personally. It’s easy for me to write up ideas and goals I have for this blog, or things I want to do with the kids this year, or projects I want to get done around the house in the upcoming new year. But this, this goal was just for me. A personal goal that didn’t affect or rely on anyone else. Honestly, it had been a while since I had don’t anything for myself like that, and it felt good to focus on something that was just for me.
Endurance for the “In-Between”
Hello Friends!! We have been working on so many projects around our house lately. And while it’s fun to see the progress, I can’t wait to share them with you, I find there is something else on my heart today that I want to share instead. So many thoughts swirling in my head, and weighing heavy on my heart as we come to the end of yet another week, still in uncertain times. It was exactly 2 months ago to date that our kids started distance learning, and what began as weeks, has now turned into months. As the “Stay-at-Home” orders begin to lift, I find so many questions are still up in the air. So today, I’m sharing some of my thoughts on where we are at, and what to do as we begin to come out of all of this.
5 Ways to Refresh for Mom
Happy weekend friends! Mother’s Day is tomorrow, can you believe it, and as I type this there is currently snow falling as I look outside our dining room window. Not quite the Mother’s Day weather I was hoping for, especially since I ask for plants every year for Mother’s Day, and love to do some gardening, but thankfully it will melt fast. With it being Mother’s Day this weekend, I wanted to share 5 ways to refresh as a mom, because I think now more than ever, we all are in need of a little pampering.
Chicken Keeping | 101
Have you ever thought about owning chickens? Wondered what went in to keeping chickens, and what it was like having them? I know I haven’t shared a whole lot about our chickens here on the blog, but I’ve been receiving a lot of questions lately so I wanted to answer those questions, and maybe in the process answer a questions you’ve had as well. Full Disclaimer – I am no chicken expert, which is probably why I haven’t shared much in the past, but we have had our chickens now for four years, and have definitely learned a lot!
