Happy Summer Friends! I’m so excited to be teaming up with almost 30 bloggers this week to share our summer spaces with you, along with Birch Lane and Country Living Magazine. Living in the northeast, with bitter winters, it’s no surprise that summer has us begging to stay outside as long as we can.
Updated Kitchen Island
I finally decided to take the plunge and update our kitchen island, by painting it a bold color, and it was so easy. So one night around dinner time, because that’s when projects seem to strike, I grabbed my paintbrush, and my favorite chalk paint color and got to work. Or so I thought….

Ohh friends we have been so busy these last few weeks. With finishing up projects, summer approaching, and end of…

I’m so excited to be teaming up with some of my friends today for another edition of 10 Minute Decorating. You can see the entire tour at the bottom of the post, but first our front porch decorated for summer …
Celebrate Summer Home Tour
It’s funny for me to look back through past home tours, because no 2 are the same. Even though I love my neutrals and I have the same color palette for most of them, there is a different flair on each one. Even the transition from Spring to Summer, I like my home’s decor to reflect the season changing outside. Summer is bright and full of fresh air, especially after those long New England winters, so I wanted the inside of our home to feel just as bright and cheery as it does outside!
Patio Makeover with Joss & Main
Creating outdoor spaces can seem a bit overwhelming at times, especially when you don’t have a designated space or porch that gives you a spot to create an outdoor space. A few years ago we dug out this corner of our yard, near our barn and created a fire pit area. After a few hard winters the area was starting to look pretty drab, and our inexpensive, quick fix, patio furniture had seen better days. See the entire makeover on the blog!
A letter for the tired Mom
I know I don’t share a whole lotta personal stuff here on the blog. Every now and then it seeps out, and I would like for it to start to seep out a little more. Sometimes though, if I’m being honest, I get stuck when sharing more personal posts that don’t have all the pretty photos to follow. I know that isn’t the only reason you guys are here, but I think I have put myself under an unrealistic exception of needing to always provide beautiful room shots. Don’t get me wrong, it’s something I love to do, it’s just not something that I always do. So today I don’t have any pretty room shots for you to look at, instead it’s just me and you friends. Friends chatting over coffee I’d imagine, and a conversation I longed for as a mom of too tiny people not to long ago.
Decorating with Flowers – Real & Faux
decorating with flowers is one of my favorite things to do. A few years ago I made the switch from rewarding myself with chocolate or candy to rewarding myself with flowers if I reached a goal that week, or was celebrating something. It instantly made my home more cheery, and my waistline thanked me for it too 🙂 So today I wanted to give you some ideas of easy ways to decorate with flowers around your home, and it doesn’t matter if they are real or faux.
Client Mood Board
Every once and awhile though I will get a client whose style is not your typical farmhouse feel with white slipcovers, but stretches my design muscles. There are lots of great ways to add character to a space and personality. Don’t worry about what the “rules” are, if it feels right go for it. Don’t pass up an item that you love and can’t live without because it wouldn’t traditionally fit into the design plan. Can I share a secret with you??…
