Hello Friends!! I don’t know about you, but after the house has been cleaned, and organized and everything put back in its rightful place, sometimes during this time of year, these long winter days can feel relentless. Well at least here in New England. Instead of wishing these months away, I tend to gravitate towards doing a project. It doesn’t have to be a big project, sometimes just a simple DIY to help the days pass and get out some of that creative energy from being cooped up inside does the trick. So I’ve gone through past post, and rounded top 5 DIY’s to help us get through these long winter days, just in case you happen to be craving something to do!
New Categories on the Blog
Hello friends!! Happy Friday! I can’t believe the weekend is already here. I’ve been doing some work behind the scenes here on the blog, and I wanted to share with you, so it hopefully makes things a little easier to find. One of my biggest goals when I switched over to this new blog design was to make things easier to find. Photos, posts, categories – all of it more user friendly. Part of this new design has allowed me to be more specific with how I am able to display older posts, so I have created some new categories here on the blog, in hopes that it will make things easier for you, my beloved readers!
Dining Room {2019}
Our dining room has taken on many looks over the past 8 years since we’ve lived in this house. I’ve shared the progression our dining room took, showing where we started, and how I got it to the space you see today. You can read all about it HERE. Then this past fall I did something I had been pining to do for over a year, and that was to paint it a new darker color for the first time since I originally painted it Wood Smoke when we moved in. It’s been about 5 months, and I’m still loving the new color I chose – Peppercorn by Sherwin Williams. I took some photos the other week, mostly because the only photos I really had with the new color on the walls, our dining room was decorated for a specific seasonal home tour. So to start the year off with a fresh look, here is our dining room for 2019.
Organizing the Buffet
This year I’ve really been embracing the “fresh start” mentality that comes with the new year. I’ve been cleaning out closets and drawers. And one of those places I’ve ignored for far too long is the buffet in our dining room. So today I’m sharing some simple things I did to organize the buffet and made it SO much more efficient.

My Go-To Decorating Advice
One of the most common issues I hear from people regarding their space, is that it’s lacking something, and they just can’t put their finger on it. They usually try to define the lack by using words like flat or blah. The room has no character, or it feels uninviting! While I don’t consider myself a decorating genius, I do have a few go-to’s when it comes to decorating. So today I’m sharing with you my go-to decorating advice. These are the top 5 things I look for in a room.

You can read it HERE, in case you missed it, but I pointed out some key pieces in my own home to share how it reflects us. I want our home to tell a story, Our story. While I love finding great buys at HomeGoods and Marshalls, my favorite things to decorate with are those that have a story. So today I’m sharing 5 ways your Home can tell your Story too!
Does your Home tell your Story
With all the refreshing the new year brings us, I can’t help but take a look around my home with a refreshed perspective. Wanting to start off the new year with a freshly cleaned space, and decluttered surfaces, I can’t help but analyze over our homes decor, and reflect on the story it tells. Looking over every piece of furniture and knick knack, I ask myself the question ” Does my home tell our story?”, and the answer is YES!
