I know I don’t share a whole lotta personal stuff here on the blog. Every now and then it seeps out, and I would like for it to start to seep out a little more. Sometimes though, if I’m being honest, I get stuck when sharing more personal posts that don’t have all the pretty photos to follow. I know that isn’t the only reason you guys are here, but I think I have put myself under an unrealistic exception of needing to always provide beautiful room shots. Don’t get me wrong, it’s something I love to do, it’s just not something that I always do. So today I don’t have any pretty room shots for you to look at, instead it’s just me and you friends. Friends chatting over coffee I’d imagine, and a conversation I longed for as a mom of too tiny people not to long ago.
Decorating with Flowers – Real & Faux
decorating with flowers is one of my favorite things to do. A few years ago I made the switch from rewarding myself with chocolate or candy to rewarding myself with flowers if I reached a goal that week, or was celebrating something. It instantly made my home more cheery, and my waistline thanked me for it too 🙂 So today I wanted to give you some ideas of easy ways to decorate with flowers around your home, and it doesn’t matter if they are real or faux.
Client Mood Board
Every once and awhile though I will get a client whose style is not your typical farmhouse feel with white slipcovers, but stretches my design muscles. There are lots of great ways to add character to a space and personality. Don’t worry about what the “rules” are, if it feels right go for it. Don’t pass up an item that you love and can’t live without because it wouldn’t traditionally fit into the design plan. Can I share a secret with you??…
Girl’s Bedroom Details & Sources
When it comes to creating any space, there are a few key tips I think make all the difference in the world.
– Piecing together a room, instead of buying a “completed set” takes longer, but the outcome is a room that feels put together with extra love and attention to detail, and gives you an heirloom feel, which no store can provide.
– Not over looking pieces that will make a huge impact on the space. The right sized area rug, and lighting with character make a bigger impact than you think.
– Always incorporate at least on DIY. Our daughters room was put together with a mix of yard sale finds, DIY’s and finished with sophisticated touches.
Come and see all the details that went into completing our daughters bedroom makeover.

10 Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
You can thank my husband for this, because last night he asked me what I wanted for mother’s day, and nothing came to mind. It’s not because I didn’t want anything, I just couldn’t remember any ideas I had previously thought of. So instead telling him ” I don’t care”, I said hold that thought, and let me get back to you, because I know there are things I want! HA HA, said from someone being totally realistic. I mean if he is going spend our hard earned cash on something for me, you can be sure this thrifty mom is going to make sure it’s something she wants! Come see what my 10 gifts are …
Bathroom Mini-Makeover
I pushed it off for months and months, but I finally came to the conclusion that giving our bathroom a mini makeover by painting our stripes a new color was mandatory. And I am so glad that I did. Every time I paint with gray I fall in love with the color all over again. Come see which gray I used this time!
Different types of Art for your walls
As I said in my last post, knowing what to hang on your walls can prove to be tricky sometimes. Today I’m going to highlight different art I have on my walls, and hopefully provide you with some inspiration for different types of art for your walls too! Again I will say, that I love framing family photos, especially large prints, but I’ve found if I’m doing a mix of different sized frames, I need to mix up what I put in those frames as well. For instance …
Art for your Home + A GIVEAWAY
Today I’m going to share a great place to find art for your walls. If you haven’t been around here for a little while, you may not know this, but I have a love for gallery walls. Maybe more like an obsession! I often get asked by clients what they should fill their frames with when they hang them on their walls. My first go to would be family photos, but you don’t want to go overboard. Hanging art on your walls is a great way to show everyone your personality and style. So this week we are going to tour all around our house as I show you different ways to decorate your walls, but first I’m going to show you some amazing prints, and a fun giveaway too!
