Fall Home Tour {2014}

10/06/2014 By Bre

6 Oct

I am so excited to be joining up with a fabulous group of ladies this week to share our Fall Home Tours with you! Ashley over at Cherished Bliss put together this lovely Tour, so be sure to stop by and say hello.

Fall has officially hit! The temps are starting to drop, the ground is covered with leaves, and autumns beautiful colors surround us. Inside I put away all my summer-y things and replace them with soft fuzzy textures and deeper colors. With cooler temps, and cold rainy days, I love to curl up inside with a cozy blanket and a warm beverage in my mug. So I layer our house to be well equipped for fall nesting.

I always like to swap things out when the seasons change, and pictures on the wall are not safe from a constant game of musical chairs. When it gets colder out, I like to make the house feel warmer by swapping out art work or prints to ones with darker colors. I picked up this beautiful hand painted wrapping paper in a local boutique, and loved the charcoal black background. It was way to pretty to end up in the trash, so I put it in frames and hung it in the living room instead.

For me fall is a bit more of bringing nature in,
instead of flooding the house with typical fall decor.
I love bringing in wood tones, and shades of green. I filled a HomeGoods vase with mini pinecones, and placed a white pillar candle in the center. Pottery Barn look for a 1/2 the price.

My favorite new addition to our living room is this gorgeous scripture sign from
Between You & Me signs.
I have always loved Tara’s work, seriously I could buy every
sign in her shop! And I’m so excited that Tara is extending a 15% off coupon
to all of you, for this week, good towards any sign in her shop! Once you visit her shop you will see what I mean, good luck deciding.
I happen to think they would make wonderful
Christmas presents,
I don’t know about you but I would be thrilled to unwrap one
of these beauties Christmas morning.
To get the discount just use the code ROOMSFORRENT15.
I love the distressed detail she gives her signs,
it’s just the perfect touch that would go good with any decor.
I will be back tomorrow to show you more of her lovely sign

Another item I bring out when fall hits, are cozy throw blankets at arms reach, and bolder colored pillows. Layers help make a space feel warm and cozy, and perfect for weekends snuggled up on the couch.

You’ve already gotten to see a sneak peak of my dining room with this free printable for fall post, but otherwise I keep the same simple approach to fall. I tend to do something different each year. Last year I filled my dough bowl on the table with fresh cut branches and pumpkins. This year I went for a more traditional layout.
I filled my hurricane vases with nuts (purchased in the produce department from the grocery store) and white candles. I stacked some wreaths in the middle of the table and placed a faux pumpkin on top.
Along with scattering faux mini white pumpkins on the table as well.

For my shelves in the dining room I filled my milk glass with wheat and faux berries. I placed a few faux mini pumpkins throughout, and brought out some tarnished silver and copper to bring in warmer tones for fall.

Moving into the kitchen, I kept things the most simple in here.

This old maple syrup bucket is a revolving door for what it gets filled with. The wheat grass I picked up from Walmart in the outdoor section where all the mums are, and it fit so perfectly with this beautiful cinderella pumpkin from the farmers market. I’ve shared on Instagram before but the adorable ‘
farmers market’ pillow is from Shabby by Melissa, along with the bold black & white stripe pillow you saw in the living room.

For the shelves in the kitchen I added some faux sprigs with leaves and berries on it,
as well as some real acorn squash, that will be eaten pretty soon!
