Hello Friends! I hope you all had a lovely summer weekend. We spent some time by the pool and soaking up the sun, and resting because this week gets a little crazy for us! On thursday I leave for Haven, which I’m very excited about! And maybe a little anxious, I’ve never been, and I have the honor of speaking! Thankfully I get to speak on a topic that is near and dear to my heart, Creating a Meaningful & Stylish home, and I’m very excited to share with the ladies that come! I will be sure to fill you all in, for those of you who aren’t going, and share some on the sessions when I get back, for now I’m just trying to wrap my head around meeting a sea of people for the first time, and getting the kids settled before I leave. They are thrilled to be able to spend the time with their grandparents while we are away, but the days leading up to it can always be a bit tedious getting all their things in order. I swear sometimes packing for them is worse than packing for me! So wish me luck, and if you are going to Haven make sure you stop by and say Hi!
I recently shared a post over at Eclectically Vintage on decorating with vintage items, and I’m so excited to share more on my antique dough bowl with you today.
If you’ve been a fan of the blog for awhile, you may remember when I got my dough bowl? We found it at a barn sale, when we went antiquing for my birthday a few years ago. Let me just tell you, I had been in search for one of these for as long as I wanted a white slip covered sofa. F.O.R.E.V.E.R! To the point where my husband was going to try and make me one. Like cut down a tree, cut the base in half length wise and hallow it out. I love him, crazy boy, he just knew I really wanted one. I loved how versatile they were to decorate with, and how seamless they fit into the farmhouse decor I love so much! I’ve had mine for a few years now, and you’ve seen me use it around the house in multiple different ways, and in holiday decor. However one of my favorite ways to use my dough bowl is the most casual way.
When it’s not holding flowers, or filled with seasonal decor, it fits perfectly under our coffee table holding magazines. I love Pinterest just as much as the next girl, but one of my favorite things to do is sit down, prop my feet up, and flip through the pages . It feels like a retreat, a quick little pick-me-up! So in the summer mostly, when propping ones feet up is at it’s finest, our dough bowl serves as a collecting bin at easy reach, when one is need of that quick retreat.
If you are reading this and still stuck on what exactly a “dough bowl” is, let me give you a brief history on this antique item. Doughbowls are a true early 20th century European Antique. Magyar bakers at farmhouses in Eastern European countries used these hand carved wooden bowls to make bread. No two bowls are alike, as they each have their own distinct markings from years of use. Each has it’s own patina of perfectly weathered wood, and they vary in sizes.
Are you ready for the fun part?! These highly sought after dough bowls aren’t always easy to come by, especially if you don’t live in an area that is known for it’s large antique fairs. My love for dough bowls is so deep. I love them for their unique flair they add to any space. I treasure these so much, and the ladies over at Painted Fox have been searching for some true authentic european dough bowls to offer.
For a limited time you can get your very own antique dough bowl, part of my “Favorite’s Collection” during Painted Fox’s summer sale series. That means the hunt is over! If you’ve always dreamed of having one, now is your chance, and what better time to get one, because if you use code : ROOMSFORRENT at checkout you get 25% OFF. They very in length and size, because like I said, no two are alike. But I think you will love them just as much as I do, and treasure your very own piece of history. You can see the entire collection here, and don’t forget the code at check out if something peaks your interest!

Coco, so I noticed you’re going to Haven as well. Have you ever been? This will be my first year attending. I’m slightly nervous… I don’t know anyone who’s going!
