We are back for another week of Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series. This week we are all sharing our Fall Tabescape sponsored by All Modern. In case you’ve missed the previous weeks, you can catch week 1 – HERE, and week 2 – HERE. If you are new here, let me just tell you creating tablescapes are my favorite. I think if I could pick one thing to do for the rest of my life it would be creating tablescapes. I’m not gonna lie, every time I browse holiday catalogues, I gush over their elaborate tablescapes.
There is just something so inviting about a dinner party when the table feels more intimate, more elaborate, more grand! I envision having large holiday parties like in the Nutcracker, and everyone is dressed up, and there are holiday classics serenading the guests. I’m a relaxed, down to earth, jeans and t-shirt girl through and through, but every once in a while I like to bust out my high heels and throw some lipstick on. That’s what tablescapes do for me. I feel most alive when I’m creating them. Perhaps it’s the intricate detail I like to put into each place setting, making whoever is sitting around my table feel special and thought of.
Since our dining room could be considered more on the casual side with our rustic wood table and farmhouse bench, I wanted to create an elegant atmosphere. So I started by placing THIS tablecloth from All Modern over our table.
I love the texture the linen has, so while it’s not as formal as other tablecloths, it softens the look of our table, while providing a neutral back drop for my mixed metal tablescape.
I love incorporating warm toned metals in the fall, it’s my version of orange if you will. This rose gold flatware set from All Modern was my starting point.
I knew I wanted to play around with mixing metals, but still have the table feel elegant. I think incorporating things that shine and sparkle is just like adding a piece of jewelry to a nice outfit. You don’t want it to over-shadow the outfit, but compliment it just right.
I mixed in gold beaded chargers, also from All Modern, along with my inherited china set, you may have recognized from past tablescapes. I’m not just mixing metals, but old pieces with new.
When I think about gathering around the table, it’s a tradition. One that can sometimes get brushed aside in the busy schedules, but one that has a huge impact, and great importance. It makes life more meaningful. If you ask both my kids what their favorite “family time” activity is, they will tell you – gathering around a table and sharing a meal. I’m glad that it’s meaningful to them, and impacts them in such a way.
I’m so inspired lately by gorgeous wedding tables that have huge garlands and swags of greenery draped along them. I brought out my bay leaf garland from last years Christmas tour, and draped it diagonally across the table.
I left room to tuck antique brass candlesticks, and shot glasses I doubled as votive holders to cast a romantic glow.
In the center I filled an antique copper serving tray with heirloom pumpkins and squashes. A simple fall touch to compliment my elegant place settings.
This antique copper serving tray also from All Modern has brass trim and handles which tie in with the rest of the metals used on the table. I loved the worn in feel the tray had, which makes it feel like an heirloom piece.
I created a simple display on my buffet. Using wooden breadboards, found in our collection with Painted Fox, and a marble pastry board for a touch of luxe, are surrounded by Autumns harvest.
I placed extra cutlery and napkins in a marble pastry board for easy reach. This brings in more of a farmhouse feel, which casts a casual vibe to the otherwise elegant setting.
Of course you know I had to light the candles ๐ I mean what person puts candles out on the table and doesn’t light them?!
I hope you enjoyed this years Fall Farmhouse Tablescape, and feel inspired to host a dinner, maybe try something new, or just gather the family for dinner.
I can’t wait to see what my friends came up with this week. You can continue on with the tour, by clicking the links below, and thank you so much for stopping by!
