Happy Tuesday Friends!! I’m so excited to be back for another round of Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series. Today we are sharing our Living Rooms decorated for fall. If you have been visiting my blog since the beginning of the year than you may remember me sharing how I wanted to “Simplify our Spaces“. This year has been about simplifying. Not adding more, but really emphasizing on special details. It’s easy to feel the need to add a ton to your decor when decorating for new seasons, however I chose to make subtle transitions to gradually add fall into our living room.
Since we are still in what I consider to be “early” fall, and wanting to keep things on the simpler side, I brought in elements of nature and swapped out my summer decor accessories for some simple fall decor.
Flowers get replaced with branch clippings, and magnolia picks that have darker, warmer tones that reflect what is going on outside.
These cute little cooler toned pumpkins are the same ones I used in last years fall decor on our dining room table. This year I sprinkled them throughout our home just to add little touches here and there for a more subtle feel.
Faux pumpkins and gourds are my favorite way to add touches of fall, and they are kid friendly, which is fuss-free decor if you have a lot of little hands in your space. It’s amazing how adding a pumpkin here and a pumpkin there, instantly brings fall into your room.
One subtle change I made throughout the whole room, was I swapped out my white curtains for warmer gray ones. I can’t wait to share more about these with you, but they made a huge impact in our space, and really made things feel cozy for the cooler months were are heading into.
I will admit it, I’m going to be super sad when I can walk out into my yard with clippers and clip whatever I feel like. It is probably my most favorite thing about spring and summer. However, I love that with fall comes the urge to start nesting. We start making preparations for cold days and winter months spent inside, while we still get to enjoy the last bit of the season.
Swapping out artwork to welcome fall is another great way to add fall in subtly. You can find this wall canvas hanging HERE, or read more about how I used new art from Vol. 25 to welcome fall into our home, HERE and HERE.
I’m sure I will still make subtle changes here and there the deeper we head into fall. But for now I’m focusing on embracing the season one day at a time, slowing down a bit, and admiring God’s beauty outside as we get ready for another beautiful fall here in New England. Can you source your living room area rug…blue stripes? Love the room.
Bre says
Sure thing! The blue and white stripe rug is a Dash & Albert line, I got from Wayfair. I included my aff. link so you could see the exact one I have 🙂 http://rstyle.me/n/bzuvwnzdwn

Oh thank you so much. I made them from dish towels I got at Target last fall.
