Hello Friends!! I can’t believe that summer is only seconds away! I say that because we are in our last week of school, summer temps are here… and the humidity, and with it just brings the much needed slowdown to a gentler pace. I’m so ready for relaxing days by the water, summer catnaps in our hammock, and plenty of front porch sitting. I’ve been sharing some glimpse’s of around our barn where we rented a bob cat and cleared out this past spring. It is coming along, and I am so pleased with the progress. I’ll be sharing some more of our fire pit area on Wednesday for the last installment of the Seasonal Simplicity tour, and then our new outdoor dining area early next week! I can’t wait for you to see everything that’s we’ve done. In the meantime with all my planting, I wanted to show you my potting bench area and how I have it styled for summer.
You might remember first seeing this potting bench on my Spring Porch refresh last year.
I love the size, because it’s slender enough to fit just about anywhere, but still offers enough work space. And the shelf underneath provides extra space to store things.
Filled terra cotta pots with herbs add just enough greenery, while also providing me with fresh herbs all summer long. They are also very easy to maintain, which is great!
The “Feed & Supply” sign I actually made quite a few years ago, and I kid you not, it has been sitting in my basement ever since. Then this year as I was setting things up out on our patio area, I originally was thinking of making a different sign, and I grabbed this one just to see how it would “fit”. And it fit so well, it’s been in that spot ever sense.
I love being able to store extra pots on it, in case I find a cute little plant while I’m out. I still plan on filling a few more, but for now I’m taking a little breather.
Just to the left of our barn is the area we cleared out this past spring, and we have already used this space so much!
I can’t wait to share more with you soon, until then do you have a potting bench? Do you utilize it? I feel like I use it both for planting, and then it doubles as a serving space when we are entertaining out at our fire pit.
