Easy Thanksgiving Place Card

Hello friends!! Thank you so much for all of your kind words regarding this years Thanksgiving table. I was chatting with a friend the other day, and I told her it’s a hard toss up to decide which holiday I like creating tablescapes for more, Thanksgiving or Christmas! I love the seasonal elements that both holidays bring forth, but what I love even more is the excuse the holiday gives me to create a fancy table for my family. Today I’m sharing how I made the place cards I used on this years Thanksgiving table. It was quite simple, but there’s nothing quite like adding the personal touch of a place card to make others feel welcome.

Come and see ~

To me the place setting in a tablescape is where you make your official “welcome” to each guest that sits there. Chargers stacked with plates, layered with napkins and a personalized place card on top creates a “present” for each guest to receive. A seat at the table where they are welcomed and loved.

For this years thanksgiving table, I used paper place cards cut to look like mini banners. Instead of writing names, I chose to write the words that come to mind most when I’m sitting around the Thanksgiving table with my family. Thankful, Grateful, & Blessed.

Not only does these words best describe the emotions that fill my heart each year on Thanksgiving, but I can reuse them year after year if I choose, regardless of who is gathered around my table.

I had some on hand from the Target value spot a few years ago, but you could easily make your own using craft paper, and cutting a V in each end.

I wrote each word in a copper fine tip marker. I love how the copper color places off of the other warm tones I used on my table, and the added shimmer makes it feel a little more fancy.

It’s meaningful to have a place set just for us. It tells us we’re wanted, invited, and gives a sense that we have a place we belong. When we take time to prepare a seat at the table, we tell our guests “You were thought of, planned for, and I have prepared a place for you”.

I can’t think of a better message to serve this holiday season, letting those closest to us know just how much we care for them.
