Hello Friends, and Happy Fall!! The weather has been amazing here in New England, and the color on the leaves this year is truly breath taking. I’m so excited to be teaming up with some blogging friends today as we share our fall porch, hosted by my lovely friend Rachel from Shade of Blue Interiors. If you’ve been following along with me on Instagram, then you saw how I started gathering things for our porch this year, but I’m excited for you to come and take a look!
Come and see ~
This year I decided to stick with monochromatic pumpkins again. I got a variety of white pumpkins, a few cinderella pumpkins, and some squash. Most were found at our local grocery store, and home depot.
Of course decorating for fall means bringing out all the fall textures. Plaid, cozy twill, and a chunky knit throw as well. I’m trying to soak up as much as I can of what’s left of our porch sitting days, and having cozy throws nearby helps for chilly mornings, and cool nights.
I switched a few things up in my planters, opting for some darker ground cover plants that I can transplant into the ground later this month before we get a frost. And of course it wouldn’t be fall around here if I didn’t include any cabbage. I think cabbage is the new “mum” for me. It’s been a staple in my fall decorating the last few years, and really love the texture it adds.
Over the summer, the hubby hung my “Rooms for Rent” sign out on our porch, and I love it here. It’s the sign that inspired the name for my blog, and really started it all, and I love having it as a focal point on our porch.
You can read all about that story HERE.
Next to the door that leads into our kitchen, the one we use as our main entrance, I created a vignette with a HUGE cabbage I found, some butterfly bush, and a variety of pumpkins and squash.
I gave a breakdown for how I created this in my stories on IG yesterday, but whenever I’m creating a vignette, I start with my largest piece first. In this case the cabbage. Then I tucked the butterfly bush planter in next to it. Then starting with my largest pumpkins, framing either side of the planters, I filled in the middle with more pumpkins and squash, working my way down from biggest to smallest.
I thought I was keeping things simple this year, but when I look back at photos from years past, I think I’ve used the most pumpkins on our porch this year. And I am not regretting that for one minute :p
