Are you ready to decorate for fall? But not quite sure how to keep a cozy, neutral aesthetic with your fall decor? Friend, I’ve got you covered! I’ll be the first to admit, I love fall! Living in New England, we get the best showcase of all the beautiful autumn colors. And while I love the vibrant colors fall is known for, I don’t necessarily love decorating with those colors inside my home. Does that mean I have to skip out on decorating my home for fall? No way! Come and see the softer side of fall.

Neutral Pumpkins
Not all pumpkins are created equal. While I have nothing against the traditional orange pumpkin, I personally am drawn to the more muted tones. Whether they are faux or real, I go for the pumpkins in the tan and green shades. And of course who can resist those mini white baby boo pumpkins.
I love to fill up bowls or trays with them. Stack them on books on my coffee table or side table. I even love to nestle them together for a simple fall look.
Cozy Texture
It’s fall, and there is one thing I love to bring out every year our temperatures start to cool off. Cozy texture. It’s time to bring out all the knit blankets, and cozy throws. I love to swap out our throw pillow covers with patterns and texture that speak “fall” to me.
I even like to swap out my curtains (when possible) for a darker color to add more of that cozy feeling, as we get ready to nestled in for cooler months ahead.
Decorate for Fall all around your Home
Neutral fall decor doesn’t have to just be contained to the living room. I find I enjoy seasonal decor the most when I sprinkle it all around my home. That doesn’t mean you have to go all out with your decor in every room – well you could. But I like to gather a few fall stems in a vase here, and place a pumpkin there. Light my favorite fall candle, so I can smell that lovely fall scent all throughout my home.

Go Foraging
Embrace the fall foliage where you live. Fall looks different all around the country, and one of my favorite ways to celebrate the each season, is by bringing nature in. Get outside, go for a walk, notice how the season is changing around you. Collect acorns that are dropping from the trees, and don’t forget to bring your clippers! You can always find a pair in my back pocket when I’m outside going for a walk, or in my car! I have been known to pull over for your random roadside clippings. Use what inspires you, wherever you live.

It all looks so nice and has a peaceful, serene look so I love it. I, too, have been heading towards the less is more and simpler is better look. I’m tired of too much “stuff” and the overly decorated look.

Oh Bre! How I love your blog updates! So soothing to the soul. I love the neutral fall look (though I add a little pumpkin flavor to my own). The muted colors are so serene for inside the house while the outside world flashes beautifully with vibrant reds, oranges and yellows. I love that you pointed out how people can enjoy those colors even if they don’t necessarily want to decorate with them, and with your suggestions, they don’t need to!

Thank you Kerri!!! I couldn’t agree with you more 🙂 There is something so calming and peaceful when our decor isn’t competing for our attention, but rather just inspiring us throughout the day 🙂
