One of my favorite ways to celebrate a new season is by setting a beautiful table. There’s something about taking a few extra minutes to layer dishes, add fresh flowers, and light a candle that makes even an ordinary weeknight dinner feel special.
While I love decorating for every season, I find myself drawn to a simple summer tablescape that feels light, effortless, and collected. Instead of relying on bright colors, I love letting natural textures, crisp whites, and fresh greenery do the work.
If you’re looking for summer table decorating ideas that are easy to recreate, here’s exactly how I styled this table.

Start with a White Tablecloth
To begin, I used a white embroidered tablecloth to create a neutral foundation. I instantly fell in love with this tablecloth from Magnolia (currently unavailable). It has an heirloom feel, and the eyelet detail with scalloped edges feels perfect for summer. The white reflects the natural light beautifully and creates the perfect backdrop for everything else you’ll layer on top. One of the things I love most about decorating with white is that it never competes with the centerpiece. Instead, it allows every texture and seasonal detail to stand out.

Layer Natural Textures
To keep the table from feeling too formal, I added woven placemats beneath each place setting. Mixing natural fibers with white dishes creates that relaxed, coastal-inspired look I always gravitate toward during the warmer months.

Each place setting includes:
- Woven placemats – Target
- White dinner and salad plates – Crate & Barrel
- Soft striped linen napkins – Magnolia
- Woven napkin rings – Farmhouse Pottery
- Clear vintage-inspired glassware – HomeGoods
- White handled flatware – Birchlane
Nothing is overly fancy, but layered together, it feels thoughtful and inviting.
(Some of these pieces I’ve had for a few years now, and are no longer available, while others I hand-picked recently, but are all currently unavailable. I will update the post with links as pieces come back in stock.)

One of my favorite decorating tips is mixing simple everyday dishes with a few textured accessories. It instantly elevates the table without needing to buy an entirely new set of dishes.
Let Fresh Flowers Be the Star

If there’s one thing I never skip when decorating a summer table, it’s fresh flowers.
For this centerpiece, I gathered white anemones, Queen Anne’s lace, poppy pods, orlaya, and a few thistle stems in a vintage-inspired pitcher (similar one found HERE). The arrangement is intentionally loose and organic—almost as if it had just been gathered from the garden.

I think flowers always bring a table to life in a way that nothing else can.
You don’t need an elaborate arrangement either. Even a handful of seasonal blooms from your garden or local farmers market can become the focal point of the entire table.
Add Simple Candlelight

I tucked a few woven glass candle holders down the center of the table for a little warmth and ambiance.
Candles aren’t just for the holidays. Summer evenings spent around the table somehow feel even cozier with a soft glow as the sun begins to set. Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference. The woven texture of the candle holders complements the woven placements and napkin rings, tying everything together for a relaxed summer feel.

A Table That’s Meant to Be Enjoyed
What I love most about this table isn’t that it’s perfectly styled—it’s that it feels livable.

It’s the kind of table that’s ready for slow breakfasts, afternoon coffee with a friend, or dinner with family after a day spent outside. It reminds me that creating a welcoming home doesn’t require perfection. Sometimes all it takes is a few fresh flowers, beautiful linens, and the intention to gather.
Summer has always been my favorite season for slowing down, opening the windows, and inviting people around the table. My hope is that this simple summer tablescape inspires you to do the same.

After all, some of life’s sweetest memories are made right here—around a table shared with the people we love.

So pretty!
Thanks Pat!! Hope you are having a great summer so far 🙂
