Hello friends! Last week as I began pulling bins out of our basement of Christmas decor, I discovered that there had been some water damage. After loosing a large bin of Christmas decor the previous year to water damage, I thought I had stored everything properly so this couldn’t happen again – but I was wrong. Unfortunately in our 1846 farmhouse, our basement gets water running through it every time there is a heavy rain that moves in, so we keeps things up on shelves and in plastic totes. Well, I lost two Christmas trees this year to water damage ๐ UGH! Such a sad day, despite my best efforts to keep things stored properly. I’m happy to report though that I found a new Christmas tree, on Amazon non-the-less, so today I’m sharing some pictures of Christmas trees past, and a round up of some of my favorite Christmas trees, in case you happen to be in the market too.
Come check it out ~

The first year we got the flocked tree, I was still decorating a bit more rustic for christmas. You can see my entire Christmas Home Tour from that year HERE.
After a few years of decorating with rustic Christmas decorations, I was ready for a change.
I was still able to use a lot of the same shiny mercury glass ornaments from the years before, but then added shimmery ribbons, and some extra white batting to the tree to make it look like snow ๐
This was also the year that Better Homes & Gardens came to photograph out home for the following years Christmas Ideas magazine. Such a highlight!
Then I partnered with Balsam Hill, and got this new beautiful – HUGE Christmas tree!
I love it so much, but as you can see, I had to put it in a different spot because the base of it is so large, it took up too much room in our living room. I love the realistic looking shape, and branches, but it was just too big for our house.
I’ve lent it to a friend for safe keeping, until we (someday) move, and hopefully have a large family room that can accommodate this gorgeous large tree.
Which brings us up to last years tree. Another Balsam Hill tree, that I absolutely loved. This one however, was one of the two that got damaged due to the water that got in our basement.
Trust me when I say this, I was truly heart broken, because this tree fit our living room, and family perfectly. It had the realistic shape and branches that you would only dream of in a faux tree, but the size was perfect for our living room.
So the hunt began, when I found discovered the ruined Christmas decorations we lost to mold from the water damage. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found, since it had been a few years since I had looked for faux Christmas trees. These are not your grandmothers faux Christmas tree.
I’ve rounded up the ones that I personally loved, for either size, realistic shape, and price! You can click on any of the images below to be taken directly to their site. And I will say that I did end up buying one of the trees I included in the roundup below, and I was very pleased with the quality.

– Favorite Christmas Trees –
Fun Fact : When decorating our new tree this past week, my daughter said to my son “Can you believe that some people actually use ‘REAL’ Christmas trees in their homes!”, to which he replied “Dannika, we’ve had real Christmas trees in our home”. Apparently she was too young to remember. So one of these years, we will have to bring the real Christmas tree back.

Does Balsam Hill sell your tree from last year still? If so do you remember which one it is?
Bre says
Yes! They do, I had the Sanibel Spruce pre-lit – https://www.balsamhill.com/p/sanibel-spruce?sku=2808244

These are all so lovely in their own way but your daughter MUST know the joy (and scent!) of a real tree! I place small fake ones around the house of all sizes but the main tree must still be the real deal!
Bre says
Yes!! I AGREE!! Someday I would love to have the space to be able to have a real and artificial tree in our house ๐
