If you’ve been here awhile, you might remember that this corner of our kitchen used to be an unused desk area. Last year we transformed it to make room for the antique pine cupboard I scored on FB Marketplace—one of my favorite finds to date. I never got to decorate it for Christmas, so this season I couldn’t wait to add a few of my favorite festive pieces.
Today I’m sharing how I decorated our vintage cupboard for Christmas, along with easy tips you can use to style your own hutch, cabinet, or open shelving for the holidays.
Cozy Fall Home Tour: Neutral Fall Decorating Ideas for a Warm, Welcoming Home
Today, I’m excited to share this year’s Fall Home Tour — a look at how I’ve layered in neutral fall decor and cozy details throughout our home. I love to refresh our home with each seasonal change, and just like I shared in my “Fall Nesting” post, decorating for fall is all about adding in cozy layers, natural accents, and comforting details that mirror autumn’s beauty.
Simple Fall Vignette with Warm Tones and Seasonal Textures
There’s something so special about creating little seasonal moments around the house, and this fall vignette in our dining room has quickly become one of my favorites. As soon as the leaves start to change outside, I can’t resist bringing a little bit of that autumn magic indoors. Instead of feeling the pressure of decorating the entire house for fall, I like to focus on one area at a time. Creating a seasonal vignette on our buffet is one of my favorite areas to start with.
Is Fall Nesting Really a Thing?
How else do you explain the feeling you get when the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, and many of us feel the natural pull to retreat indoors and create a space that feels warm and inviting. This seasonal shift is often called fall nesting—a practice of refreshing your home with cozy layers, natural accents, and comforting details that mirror autumn’s beauty. The difference for me is that fall nesting goes beyond simply decorating for the season; it’s about embracing a lifestyle of comfort and connection, where your home becomes a welcoming retreat for cooler months ahead.
Decorating with Faux Stems
Without fail every year around this time I start to get the itch for spring. While I’m not ready to fully decorate our home for spring quite yet, I’m ready to breathe a little life back into our spaces. Our winters are long and sometimes feel like they can overstay their welcome. Come the end of February, I’m ready to freshen up the inside of our home even though there may be plenty of snow still left on the ground. Decorating with realistic looking faux stems is just the help my home needs to help me get through as I patiently wait for spring to arrive!
Our New Old Kitchen Cupboard
I am so excited to share our New {Old} Kitchen Cupboard with you today! I say it’s new old because even though it’s not decades old, it’s loaded with lots of old world character and though purchased second hand it’s new to us! I shared a sneak peek of it on Instagram just before the holidays and mentioned it was probably my favorite find to date, and that statement is 1000% true! I can’t wait to give you a close-up and show you the look of how I’ve styled our new kitchen cupboard so far.
Christmas Mantel | 2024
I can’t believe we are less than 10 days away from Christmas. While we have been busy buttoning up a few projects to finish this year, I’m also finding time to squeeze in a little holiday decorating. I find it less overwhelming to focus on one area in our home instead of feeling pressured to have the whole house decorated for Christmas all at once. This allows me to enjoy decorating our home for the holidays even more during this busy time of year. Today, I’m sharing how I styled our fireplace mantel for Christmas.
Fall Back Porch
Our back porch has been undergoing major changes over the last few months. Earlier this summer, we started the demo, removing worn-out screens and the dated green tile. We aren’t quite finished with it yet, but the transformation has been so fun, seeing new life brought back into this space that we love to use. Our back porch is split into two sections, one part being screened in (which we plan to keep) and a second portion that used to have a pergola over it. Both of which overlooks our backyard. We’ve made some major changes to it, and even though it’s not quite finished, I thought it would be fun to decorate for fall and show you the difference between how it looked last year and now.
How I Style our Hutch for Fall
The hutch in our dining room is one of my favorite spots to decorate seasonally. It’s the first spot I go to decorate for Christmas and an easy way to add seasonal decor that’s reflected throughout the entire room. Our hutch makes the perfect focal point, centered at the end of our table. Today I’m sharing the step-by-step process of how I style our hutch for fall.
